John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy were both put in jail due to the hard work of detectives, as were a host of other criminals and crumb-bums. Inspector Gadget doesn't really do anything. His niece, Penny (who I had quite the crush on when I was a kid-got to love them cartoon honeys), does all the work.

Diplomats resolve all sorts of tensions and conflicts between nations (if they are good, a bad one creates these, I'm sure), and get to sit down for a good luncheon from time to time. Kim Jong Il plays diplomat as well as musical theatre enthusiast for disastrous results.
