Forum Topic: "I Want to Never Have to Talk with a Human Being"

I'm into sciences, astronomy and chemistry, mostly. I want to have a job where people will leave me be (please don't point out the irony of my seeking out people here--the fact remains, I hate them)...basically I want to sit alone in an observatory or something. What colleges should I be looking into to try and land a job like this?

I would look at doing a Ph.D. You have to spend a lot of time by yourself doing research. Chemists can work in labs together, as do many scientists. Hmmm. Find the best school for chemistry and the least popular specialty. Then get funding to research it.
Although, if you succeed in what you're researching, you'll get recognition. So, guess there's no hope for being isolated.

I agree. Become some kind of scientist and you won't always have to talk, it's mostly just work.
