Forum Topic: "Pharmacist salary?"

Post a new topic
i was looking at the Pharmacist career and noticed TheU gave it a pretty high money rating which is consistent with Salary.com** reporting around 100,000 a year is average.

However I read on PrincetonReview.com^^ that,
"Average starting salary: $27,000
Average salary after 5 years: $55,300
Average salary after 10 to 15 years: $70,000"

I believe there's a big difference between 55,000 and 100,000 a year
Can anyone explain the different figures to me? and which is accurate?
Thanks.

yes, $100,000 is correct. I have a friend who is on his last year in pharmacy school (getting his doctorate), and he said, start out salary is 100k up. And you actually don't really need to go to school for THAT long like a doctor do. According to my friend, you only need 4 years of undergrad (which I believe most people will attend-__-), and then only 4 more years of pharmacy school. So if you think about it, its actually not that much.

alright i understand, thank you

actually, its 4 undergrad, and 2 years of pharmacy, its only a 6-year program, at least, thats what my mom did, most schools offer a 6 year pharmacy program, and as soon as you get out, its 100K, and thats in some states, if you go to california, its about 130K, its moving up, not a bad profession to consider at all!

the $100,000 is correct. My older brother's roomate is working on his doctorate as well, and he said the same as elyih said.
