Carpenter: It was Good Enough for Jesus

Rating: 1/5 (59 ratings)
Introduction
Go to a construction company and tell them you want to learn how to be a carpenter. You'll start off as a laborer, but the foreman, and the other workers, will start showing you how to do all sorts of things, and they will start letting you do some of the simpler aspects of the job, like putting up drywall and measuring and cutting stuff. After a little while you’ll be taking care of all the little jobs, and then they will start showing you some of the tougher stuff, which in time you will also be allowed to do. The process will take you a couple of years, but you will be making money as you learn.

Job Function
Building stuff is really kind of cool. I mean, building a house, I guess there’s a good feeling that comes along with that, knowing that your job is useful.
Lifestyle
Whatever you do, you will still be able to do it. You do your work, you get paid pretty well, and then you go home and do whatever it is that floats your boat. There’s only a few problems; one is that there are a lot of dishonest contractors. The other problem is the economy; you should be part of a union, and this will pay off in difficult financial times.

Additional Information
I’m a carpenter because I’m good at being a carpenter. It's important in life to find out what you're good at and stick to that.
