Environmental Engineer: Caring for the Environment with a Slight Case of Dendrophilia

Rating: 5/5 (16 ratings)
Introduction
Alright, here's the story morning glory, to be an environmental engineer is to be interested in maintaining homeostasis for the earth. If you view the earth as a living, breathing, thing (that so happens to be filled with magma), then you are heading in the right direction. Environmental engineers conduct research to minimize industrial contamination. Projects can span from tackling ozone depletion to reviving plant life in Mozambique.

Job Function
Tracking, tracking, tracking, and more tracking. Organizing field tests and compiling data from research are important parts of environmental engineering. In sum, there is a lot of scientific data detailing. Being an environmental crusader is also helpful. Have a general interest for the big green wave and the "Go Green" campaign.
Lifestyle
As an environmental engineer, you work on local or global campaigns. Ultimately, you are a watch dog for lovely green things. There is time for leisure here, except for when you are wading through potentially radioactive waste. Try not to come in close contact with hazardous material for there will be cancer in your future.

Additional Information
The responsibility of an environmental engineer is to keep the earth clean; not in a Captain Planet sense, but getting close to being Captain Planet is a viable option. Working with the environment means you will participate in lab, office, and field work, a great amount of time will be spent consulting with clients to make sure they minimize plant and animal death.
