Minister: Do i have a calling.

Rating: 4/5 (29 ratings)
Introduction
How do you really know if you are right to serve as a minister? Well, to be completely honest with you, nobody really knows. This is not the typical career choice you make where you weigh out your options and come to a conclusion based on what is most beneficial for your future. It is more like a strong sense of calling that draws you to make a difference in the world through God’s grace. It’s a big commitment that requires great responsibility so take a deep look inside yourself, talk to the people you trust, and seek God’s guidance before you make any definite decision.

Job Function
In this line of work, it requires strong communication skills, dedication, patience, and the will to help someone believe in God. Not everyone is cut out for this job because you are basically living for other people rather than yourself. You live a life similar to a doctor because you are pretty much on duty at all times, day and night. But then again, you get to witness miracles happening to people on a daily basis which strengthens your beliefs.

Lifestyle
The life of a minister is challenging because you will come across many different types of people that hold opposing views that go against everything you believe in. However, it is essential to remain unbiased and welcome each person with a clean slate. Being a minister can best be described as a modest lifestyle where you are content without the finer luxuries that life has to offer. As a tradeoff, you gain spiritual fulfillment that is unattainable any other way.

Additional Information
Most denominations require a bachelor’s degree followed by theology study at a seminary or divinity school. After being ordained, you can either begin as a pastor of a small congregation or as an assistant pastor at a larger congregation.
