Being a DJ is like being your own boss. You do a lot of freelance projects that you find on your own. You have to advertise so that people want you to come and dj their events. There is no set schedule you have to follow other than making sure you arrive on time to the place you have to be. When you first start off in this profession, you are not going to sound like an expert right off the bat so don’t be too hard on yourself. Just keep practicing. The life of a DJ is exciting because you get to mix up really cool songs that everybody loves with a little bit of flavor. I love being at an event and seeing people enjoying themselves because of me. Just be prepared for the unusual work hours that could wear you down a bit. You work Rock Star hours, only you are playing someone else’s music.
