Musical Artist: Pianist, Teacher, Ph.D.

Rating: 4/5 (2 ratings)
Introduction
Learn to be as flexible as possible. Be able to play or sing in any style you can master. Don't think you don't need to learn to read music or do theory because some famous rapper or pop singer doesn't. In the real world of music, skills count. You need to be prepared to work twice as hard as any one else if you want to succeed in this career. Being a musical artist is not a job, it is a way of life.

Job Function
The best aspect is doing what I love and value all the time. The worst aspect is the insecurity of not having a steady job and having to constantly search for new work.

Lifestyle
Lots and lots of work. Your work permeates your whole life in a way that few other careers do. I work when most other people are off, and rarely get a full day off myself; and it is never on a weekend when I do!

Additional Information
You had better want this because you will work much harder for much less money than almost anyone else, unless you get very, very lucky. And even then, you'll still work harder and longer than surgeons and attorneys, believe, me!
