Nonprofit Manager: Use Accounting for a Charitable Cause

Rating: 5/5 (67 ratings)
Introduction
As a Not for Profit Audit Manager you will need a CPA certification as well as a BS in Accounting. Because NFP’s are tax-exempt, they are closely monitored. Therefore it is imperative in this position to maintain financial integrity. I find this position more rewarding that a normal accounting position because you provide charitable services to the public. In this role I ensure that all remaining funds, after necessary operating expenses, are allocated for public service.

Job Function
You Lead your team through the entire audit process, preparing all necessary financial statements and related disclosures and reportable conditions letters, with an eye on quality, thoroughness and accuracy using the guidelines of general FASB regulations and GAAP since we are in the NFP sector.

Lifestyle
This position tends to have normal business hours. Meaning you work hard, however, on weekends and evenings you can play hard as well. There are opportunities for this position all over the country, especially in major cities. The type of personality that would be ideal for this position is a person who is slightly Type-A, detailed oriented and can handle long hours working with numbers.

Additional Information
Not exactly a glamorous career though it does offer security and stability.
