Barnard: An Honest Review
I'd encourage most students to apply to Barnard. I have been nothing but ecstatic with my experience here thus far. I applied early to Barnard because I wanted to be in New York, and I wanted the best education possible, and I wanted a small(er) liberal arts college. These three criteria basically narrow it down to Barnard, and I didn't really come to appreciate the women's college aspect of the school until I got here. And please--if you applied early to Columbia for its core and "Ivy League...

Barnard: Barnard is Great!!
It's great! The size is just right to get the attention that you need from professors and advisors but it feels neither too small nor too big. You all the resources of Manhattan surrounding you as well as the entire University campus. Barnard students have (mostly) unrestricted access to Columbia so there is a wide range of activities, sports, libraries, hang-out spaces and so on available for you. Basically if you need or want something (anything) you can get it/do it/see it....you get the p...

Barnard: I <3 Barnard!
I've only completed one year so far, but I can honestly say that I adore Barnard. There are so many amazing opportunities waiting for you right from the moment you get here. I love the girls, the classes, the campus, and the connections. Still, Barnard is definitely not for everyone. What it has in knowledge, it lacks in facilities. Our dining hall SUCKS ROYALLY (that includes John Jay, the one for Columbia College), some dorms lack AC, the housing lottery is rigged, and the class regis...

Barnard: Uptown Girls
It's New York City! What more do you want? Barnard is a small school within Columbia University that gives you a "sense of community" in this crazy town. The academics will challenge you, as will your peers and surrounding community. If you make it here, NOTHING can stop you. If you don't like New York, do yourself a favor and don't come. The city is all over you. You get used to listening to your professor's voice fighting over car horns, drills, and sirens outside...and th...

Barnard: Still Finding My Way
If you decide to attend Barnard College make sure you are not afraid of working hard and being around women all the time. I chose Barnard College because I wanted to be in New York City. I am the type of person who is always stressed and I figured that being in a city, there would always be a place to escape to. I was considering a university in the middle of nowhere, but I thought it would be too isolating. I loved the sense of community and warmth that I felt the moment I walked onto the Barna...
