BU - Boston University: The Real BU
I would say make sure that you are ready for a city school that has no school spirit, no big sports, and not a huge greek life. If you are a very independent person and really want a city life then this is the school for you.

BU - Boston University: BU = great choice!
BU, by far, is best located in Boston. Students here are active in the community and have fun. If you like to do community service, this is the BEST place to be as the opportunities throughout Boston are endless. If you are looking for an easy school don't come here. You work your ass off for decent grades. Get to know your professors, as this will help substantially come grade time.

BU - Boston University: BU = below underground
BU = below underground as the title says. What do I mean by this? Well see how low you can go. Underground is pretty low. BU is actually lower. BU isn't as great a place as everyone says. I would say that its not a great place at all to be perfectly honest. The parties are pretty lame, the girls aren't good looking, the workload is tough, and you good grades aren't easy to come by. TAs are a pain in the neck, the greek life is lackluster. Boston is the only redeeming part. Boston is a great c...

BU - Boston University: The Untold Truth of BU
If you want to come to this school, it is sugested that you have deep pokets. I chose BU because of its reputation. It is a solid school, but much different from the inside - the one-time tour given when you visit doesn't really give you a true idea of what this college is like.

BU - Boston University: Choose carefully!
BU serves highly motivated and independent students very well. There is a wealth of resources available for such students. However, that group is not in the majority among BU undergraduates, so you must be ready to prove yourself repeatedly as you go.BU has brilliant strengths and glaring weaknesses; be sure you're well positioned to take advantage of the former and skirt the latter before deciding to enroll.

BU - Boston University: Boston University: Highly Recommended
BU is split into different schools which vary in difficulty depending on your major. If you're gonna come here to mess around and not do work, don't pick a hard school! Some people definitely get away with going out every night and doing no work. Boston is the best city to go to school in, everything you possibly need is here and there is so much to do.

BU - Boston University: A Big Pleasant Pond
If you're looking to immerse yourself in the city of Boston (or at least a strip of Comm. Ave.) this is for you. The numbers are a bit overwhelming and BU students basically control a good one-third of Commonwealth Ave., making it easy to blend in with the other 30,000 students. I chose BU for the photojournalism department, and the College of Communication, which is highly regarded. If you're looking for a tight-knit community where friendly/familiar faces are always within sight, don&#...

BU - Boston University: School is School
When considering BU, make sure you don't mind walking at least a half hour to each class, that you want a city feel, can be patient with the MBTA (Boston public transportation), know what you want to major in, and most of all, don't mind a weak party scene. You won't be going to parties every weekend - big partiers should steer clear of BU because the party scene isn't so happening. Also, any student looking for an on-campus student community should not apply. BU is huge and i...

BU - Boston University: Underrated
A BU student has to not mind the general lack of campus, a great deal of personal acadademic autonomy, a cliquish student body, and a high price tag. If these things don't bother you, academics are way underrated, professors tend to be excellent, and general campus life is better than most schools.

BU - Boston University: The Small Apple?
I chose BU because I was actually deciding between BU and NYU and I sort of liked the social scene at BU better. I wanted to get away for a couple of years because I knew that most likely I’d end up back in New York, most likely for grad school so I chose Boston because it seemed like the next best thing that was close to home. The city is pretty European as far as things to do- shopping, going out at night. It seemed to be the closest match to New York, even though it’s not quite the same.

BU - Boston University: Just the Right Distance from Home
On Marathon Monday everyone has the day off. Only Boston schools get the day off, I think. People just hang outside and cheer the runners on. There are some school events I think. They have an annual Back Bay Ball that tries to target undergrads to go. Hockey games, they’re big on that. Our school is pretty good with hockey. I heard that the Agganis Arena and the fitness center are probably the 2nd best in the nation now. It’s brand new, it cost $100 million- all new fitness equipment and all ne...

BU - Boston University: Having a Good Time
The security rules and system at BU is definitely intense. They have security guards 24/7. You are only allowed I think a few guests every semester and you need to sign them in every time they enter the dorms. You need to swipe your student ID every time you walk in and when you bring a friend that doesn’t go to BU or from a different dorm, they need to leave their ID with the security guard at the front entrance. It can be a pain at times, but I guess it makes you feel safer since you’re in an ...

BU - Boston University: Great School in a Great City
My first criteria for colleges was a city. So I basically applied to all city schools and Boston is the ideal city and college town- you know you get the best of both worlds. Freshman dorms, I mean, they’re freshmen dorms. You can’t expect much. I really can’t complain. I don’t think they’re that bad. You can get everything from your bed. Like how cool is that? You just make the best of it. That’s all. The food is decent. When I actually eat here I usually get something along the lines of br...

BU - Boston University: Some thoughts from a Bio Major
I liked the whole city atmosphere because it is downtown Boston —it’s on one street, and it’s not really in the middle of nowhere. My longest walk to class is probably 15-20 minutes and usually if you take the T, the train, it takes about 5-7 minutes. My biology major is in CAS, College of Arts and Sciences. It’s not a lot of work. It’s doable, but you have to take all your major courses like Chemistry, Bio, Cell Bio, and Orgo with labs and everything. Generally, you meet three times a week ...

BU - Boston University: Boston Rocks
I grew up in NY and I kind of wanted to come back to the Northeastern area of the United States, so that’s why I chose to come to BU. Also, I wanted a city environment. And I liked the city environment that BU has. I think the dorms are a good experience- you get to know all the other freshmen right away just by standing out in this yard. So I think living in the dorms is just a good social thing to help you to meet people. I think it’s also part of the college experience. They don’t have ...
