College Overview: Bucknell

Bucknell: Aaaaaaaamazing
Because of the fact that it is literally in the middle of nowhere, it is so unique and special. Students don't leave on the weekends (if you look to do that then don't come!) and there is such a strong community as a result. I visited not expecting to like the school a lot, and ended up falling in love by the end of the tour. My tour guide seemed so genuinely happy and I trusted what she was telling me.

Most people's first impressions of Bucknell are based solely on our campus. It's a gorgeous place, with classic architecture and well-cultivated landscaping that is enough to win most people over. Bucknell: For some... but not for others
This school seems to be pretty high end, bordering on Ivy quality. Most people scored very well on standardized tests, have extensive academic backgrounds, as well as diverse extracurricular resumes. It's most certainly on the "preppy"/ conservative side. I'm talking collared shirts, Dockers, daddy's BMW, new shoes and a generally well off undergrad population. Going Greek is almost unavoidable. Bucknell: Love It
My biggest piece of advice to anyone considering any school would be that no school is going to be perfect. Keep that in mind. Bucknell actually wasn't my first choice...I was hooked on Juniata College and their brand spanking new science center. Bucknell University is a very unique community- meaning that it is one big family to most, and an isolating experience for others. Come here if you are willing to work really hard, love having fun, and get along very well and very easily with people who have different attitudes about life. Bucknell: Buck U Party Crew
I chose Bucknell because it seemed like a good environment for me to grow in as a person. I am definitly not very preppy, but a Polo has snuck into my wadrobe this semester. I have yet to wear it, but it's there. I am one of the few students that do not come from a money money money background, so it's been a bit of a challenge when my friends want to eat out every weekend. Stay away from this school if you get annoyed with preppy people.

Bucknell: Bucknell University: For the student who loves to party
Don't come to this school if you aren't into high lifestyles, you won't find a lot of people to relate to around here. Come if you want a school that you can really do whatever you want in, the people that slack off and the people who try the hardest aren't really seperated when it comes to GPA, and it is easy to balance joining clubs, sports, and partying, with school, especially if you are liberal arts major.
