Emerson: It's what you make of it.
I'll be honest: I had nothing but scorn for Emerson when they first sent me a viewbook. All I saw were buzzwords and low test scores. But as soon as I stepped onto the campus overlooking the Boston Common, I could feel the passion and focus that is such a strength of this school, and because of that atmosphere, I’ve never really looked back. By that same token, it’s important to remember that Emerson is an incredibly specific school. Make sure Emerson offers whatever major you're...

Emerson: Creative Students
This is a school for creative students who intend on majoring in the art and communication fields ONLY. Students here are passionate about their work and are very involved with multiple clubs. The staff consists of mostly professionals, some who work full time and teach a few classes a week. Emerson offers students hands on experience before they graduate. Students that are heavily athletic, lazy and homophobic should stay away from Emerson at all costs.

Emerson: Not for everyone...
Who should come here? Hard to say..most people who enjoy it seem to be Northeasterners and really pseudo-artsy types. I chose it because when I visited (during spring break, so there were no students around), it seemed very pretty, well kept, and promising-academic wise. I wish I had known how much the majors are lumped together: all media arts take most film classes at first, which I understand. But why everyone should take fundamentals, and why film basics when you major in audio? or new medi...

Emerson: E is for Eartsy
If you want a REAL college experience Emerson is not for you! There is no REAL campus, and it's more like livng life in a city. BUT if you want to live in a city (but maybe are not ready for somthing like NYU in New York or USC in L.A.) Emerson has a great marketing/film/writing/publishing/audio department and it's cool to really be part of a city, not just a school. To that note, outside of the dorm it can be hard to make freinds, so if you plan on living off campus, especially first y...

Emerson: A weird place
I chose Emerson because I really wanted to have an unconventional college experience. I think to be an Emerson student you have to have a pretty good sense of yourself and be very self motivated, because if you don't push yourself to take advantage of everything there is to offer here you won't get out of the experience. If you really want to root for sports teams or don't have a sense of humor please don't come. We have virtually no sports and enough people with no sense of hu...

Emerson: Great for Film Majors
Emerson College is a great school if you're a film major - scratch that - a fantastic school for film majors, as long as you don't get lazy (the bane of all film majors here at school). Get envolved in as many shoots as you can, go to the Film Equipment Distribution Center and ask as many questions as humanely possible. That's the thing about being a student here at Emerson, the tools are all here, but YOU MUST make the initiative to learn. Audio majors may be a bit depressed with th...

Emerson: Another Perspective
If you want a small feeling yet urban environment, Boston is a great choice. Don't come here if you want to blend in with the status quo, or if you want an experience college life like that in the movies with a giant campus.

Emerson: Emerson College Sucks
Ok, I came here Freshman year of college because it was the only place I got in. I only applied to three schools, and got nixed by UT because I fucked up my application. I transferred out and now I'm doing my first semester at UT and love it. If you're from the northeast, insanely liberal, very driven and an expert in a certain field, and looking to get into show biz, Emerson is a great place for you, go for it. Otherwise, leave it the hell alone.
