ISU - Iowa State: The Small Town Life.
If you like big cities and a lot if diversity, Iowa State is NOT for you. Yes, there are international students, but mostly white middle class students. Ames is also pretty small. It has a few bars, but not a lot of choices for those of us who are underage. If your looking for good academics though, Iowa State is for you. There are a lot of student resources, and the teachers are friendly and willing to help, if you approach them. The classes can be pretty big, but they are mostly small. There a...

ISU - Iowa State: Iowa State From An Out Of State Perspective
Iowa State is such a feel-good kind of school. We have no groups that segregate in corners or people who make you feel bad. That is why I like living in the town of Ames. If I gave you advice, it would be that Iowa State University is a good school to come to if you want to be yourself and not stress about what you wear or what people think of you. I choose Iowa State because of the beautiful campus. I loved walking around it when I went on the tour. I think that day as I was walking around cam...

ISU - Iowa State: A Unicycle Club! Try not to Laugh...
Advice: go here if you want a bigger campus and larger classes (easier to skip, though that can come back to bite you on the ass, so watch it.) Just don't expect (L)ames to be a very exciting place to live. Plenty of keggers, but if you ever want to do something remotely interesting while you're sober, go somewhere else. Stay away if you don't like snobs, cause there are a lot of them --at least in the suites. Just live in a real dorm, pansy.

ISU - Iowa State: ISU = Corn Fed Farm Girls
Iowa State is a big school with more of a small school feel. About 27,000 students go to ISU but once you get into your core program classes you'll will get to know students in your classes much better.

Take a look at the campus and the attitude of the students. Everyone seems to get along here.

ISU - Iowa State: A School for All, From Geek to Chic
I really had no idea what I wanted to do in my life. I chose Iowa State because it was a good school and very accessible to me. So far everything has been great. I wasn't so sure how things would go, but I love it! A big range of people could make it here. From the moderately lazy, to the people that love to study!

ISU - Iowa State: It Is What You Make It
The biggest piece of advice I would have is to visit the campus. A few years ago it was rated one of the most beautiful campuses in the country behind Princeton and Harvard. The campus is absolutely amazing, it was designed by the same guy who designed Central Park in New York, and Riverside, Illinois. There is plenty of open space around campus to hang around between classes. The town of Ames has everything you would need except the mall is pretty small. DesMoines which is only 30 minutes aw...

ISU - Iowa State: ISU: Where you're just a number
I chose ISU for its beautiful campus and location. ISU is a land grant university, and has a walking campus. However, the focus of Iowa State is on engineering, agriculture, and vet med. If you're not majoring in either of these three fields, stay away from here! Two brand-new buildings were just built with state-of-the-art technology (there is even a walkway between the two) and they are soley for the engineering classes. This is my third year at ISU, and I've never needed to go in eith...
