College Overview: Kent - Kent State

Kent - Kent State: Kent State....eh?
If you are a city slicker and you know you love the commotion and bustle of traffic and lights, I would recommend steering CLEAR from Kent State. Kent is located in a pretty "hillbilly-ish" town if you will...there's a lot of land nearby and not so many industrialized buildings. You can find your basic fast food restaurants like Arby's, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Wendy's...but if you're looking for real good food to enjoy, you need to head out to bigger cities li...

Kent - Kent State: A Haven for Liberals...
Kent State is a great university and I chose it because I came from a small home town and a small high school so to be on a campus as large as Kent was a cool concept for me. If you're looking into Kent, be prepared to meet tons of intersting people: you'll see new people everyday. Kent is also a very liberal university which I love. So I'd have to say if you're really conservative or want a small school where you know everyone stay away from here!

Kent - Kent State: Silent and Grey
If you want to party and drop out before sophmore year this is the the school for you, there are 21 fraternities, and they have alot of great parties. I personally don't party and it is such a dark overcast cold place. People are so rude, and no one talks to eachother. Most students are either really rich and stuck up or really poor and bitchy. This school is a joke, the academic/major programs show no realistic aproach to life and career after college.

Kent - Kent State: You Won't Get Lost...
This University has a lot of education majors and majors in the areas of arts. Kent has many majors and minors that are unique, such as Applied Comflict Managment as a major and Gay, Lesbian, bisexual, and transgender studies as a minor. KSU is the second largest University in Ohio, but it is not so big that you would get lost easily.

Kent - Kent State: For Better or For Worse
If you're interested in Design, Fashion, Architecture, or Nursing Kent is definitely for you, we have a good reputation in those departments. I can't really speak for any other majors. I came from a college prep school, so my first year here was like going back to freshman year of high school as far as class difficulty goes. One reason I chose Kent was for its rural campus, yet its close enough to downtown Kent and the night scene you can walk if the weather is nice.

Kent is great school to go to. It is a large school, but you never feel like you are lost in a crowd. The profs. are pretty good about knowing your name, and helping out with additional time after class. Kent - Kent State: Research before you Apply!
Picking a college is a difficult and important decision: please do your research. I came to Kent State because it was close, affordable, and it had my major. I'm wishing now that I would have looked into other options. I changed my major from Visual Communication Design to Advertising because basically, the VCD school was complete HELL. Kent - Kent State: Minorities Beware...
The biggest advice I could give to a high school student is to visit the school and the surrounding area. I didn't, and I regret it very much. I chose Kent State because I heard from everyone that the Fashion program here is excellent, which it is. The kind of person that should stay away are minorities that are afraid of racism and being discriminated against. A lot of hidden racism goes on, and it's very hard to get through, a struggle goes on everyday.
