MIT: Majoring in Humanitites, Hotties, and Command of the English Language
One big reason I applied to MIT and not, for instance, CalTech was because I wanted to be able to continue studying humanities. At MIT, you can major in theater arts, literature, music, writing, and so on. Granted, there are very few people who major in humanities here. Some of them got sick of science/engineering and switched over to a humanities major, while others double-major with engineering/science and humanities. I am double-majoring in engineering and humanities - caused me so much p...

MIT: IHTFP
You have to be slightly masochistic to want to go to MIT. IHTFP is the school mantra, and it stands for "I Hate This Fucking Place" because at some point, after 4 all-nighters in a row, you WILL rue the day you passed up admission to that nice easy Ivy League school. MIT is not the place for everyone, but if you want the best education there is- and you're willing to sacrifice a good chunk of sweat and blood- it might be the place for you. And not to scare you away, but please please ple...

MIT: MIT diversity and other bits and bobs
Freshman year the classes were very large- we took the requirements, physics, chemistry, calculus. But now because I’m really into the biology major there smaller and more personal and the professors they interact with you more and I really enjoy the interaction. The stress level for me was more for the MCAT than the workload for MIT. Previous semesters it was extremely high – I was taking a lot of classes and tests every two weeks so it was extremely high.

MIT: All-round good'un.
The classes are pretty small. I think the biggest class you have has maybe 300 kids, but the professors get to know you pretty well so it's pretty good. The English classes are pretty relaxed – the professors are really nice at giving out good grades and they’re just not that intense – and they’re kind of a nice break from you’re other classes. It can be really competitive if you want it to be - it’s hard to get an A, but if you’re OK with getting B’s and C’s everything’s pretty peachy.

MIT: intelligence kids abound !!!
They offer really great need based awards and so that was a big factor – just different endowments a lot of former students, alumni set up their own scholarships for students. Pass/No Record was really awesome for the first semester at MIT. I liked it because it allowed you to enjoy your freshman year at MIT without being too stressed about Grades that you’re getting because it’s Pass/No Record. It allowed me to explore the community more and not put so much emphasis on if I’m gonna get an ...

MIT: 3 things, pick 2!
There’s an old joke that says there’s 3 things: work, sleep and friends – and you can choose 2 and that’s the old MIT adage- so in some sense that’s true – not totally. The building numbers took me a while to get down, but it’s an efficient way of learning to get about campus so it’s OK. I’m not a coder by any means so, I leave that to my friends, and they can solve the world’s coding problems.

MIT: Not just Geeks
There’s a lot of MIT pride – the great ones are always the ones where they get to the big dome and get to put things on top of it – so those are really very impressive – I like the Wright Brothers airplane they constructed on top of the big dome for the anniversary – that’s was really good
