NYU: NYU: Most Overrated School in the Country
I chose NYU simply because it was the best school I got into academically and I got a full ride. Looking back, I wish I had chosen to go some place else, even if it would have been more expensive. I was extremely hesitant about coming here and I was very nervous to be immersed in city life. If you have ANY reservations about coming here, then don't, simply put. Don't even bother applying really. The people that come here and are happy are 100% obsessed with the city and comfortable with having a...

NYU: I love it!
If you're looking for rolling hills, Greek life, football, and all the other traits of a traditional campus, do NOT come to NYU. However, if the idea of stepping out of your dorm and immediately being part of the greatest city on earth excites you, then NYU might be for you. You don't really feel like a student at NYU, more like a resident of New York City. There's something very exciting about leaving your dorm and not seeing a million other college students. So I'd say if you're interest...

NYU: Good luck...seriously
I choose NYU because I absolutely love New York City. I did a summer program at Barnard College and fell in love with the city atmosphere/ nightlife. But NYU was very different. People should realize that NYU and NYC are two separate entities and when it comes down to it, NYC is a young ADULT city not a college town. Anyone who isn't extremely independant should shy away from this school.

NYU: Be Careful
Be careful!!! The school is extremely impersonal. You are often treated like a number and you have to fight against every other student. The school is EXPENSIVE, and financial aid is minimal. The school wastes money by buying biodegradable take-out containers for the dining halls that leak instead of giving it to students who need it. Also a lot of the money students pay goes to paying for student activities that are ridiculous. They rented a $36K yacht for a night for student program as opposed...

NYU: NYU = the shiz... kinda.
Let's face it - NYU is huge. There is no proper campus, it's just smack in the middle of a city, and that's your "campus" right there. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like being in the hustle and bustle of the city on a daily basis, NYU isn't for you - even from your dorm room you can hear the sounds of fire trucks and ambulances and police cars going by outside. Also, if you're an introverted person, NYU isn't really the place for you either because you can't really get around NYU by j...

NYU: NYU is RAD
It is a very big school. If you are not comfortable with approaching people, then this might not be the best school for you. You meet knew people everyday.

NYU: A Place to Find Yourself
NYU attracts the curious. That was me all throughout junior high and high school. I was a curious student with solid academics and a need to know more. I was always pushing myself to do more than the average student, even more than I ever though was possible! I went to high school in Arkansas, a place where students usually choose state colleges (even colleges in our hometown!) after high school. I wanted more. I had always dreamed about being in the Big Apple. And I think that is precisely how ...

NYU: Best School Invented
NYU is so much different than any other college out there. There is no campus, there is every kind of person imaginable. You can never run out of things to do. The academics are spectacular. Mama Mai is it great to go to this school.

NYU: Ehh
Make sure that you realize what you're getting into: NYU doesn't have a real campus, it is so large as to be, at times, totally impersonal, and students are extremely competitive. If you're ready to feel like a young professional living in New York, this is the school for you--most people balance school, work, internships, etc. If you're not ready to be a full on adult (and not in the "Friends" way, either), go elsewhere.

NYU: Not for everyone- but maybe for you
New York University is not for everyone. You are living right in the middle of New York City with no walls to keep you safe and thousands of other students who aren't going to be as openly friendly as on other campuses. I came from small town Ohio and I loved the change of the big city. I know plenty of people who didn't and have since gone home. You aren't just another college student here. We don't have school spirit in the traditional sense and its more about academia than the...

NYU: NYU ... An American Dream School in the 21st Century
If you love a big city, and a school that considers the city its campus, then NYU is the best choice for this! It was the best choice I made so far, and I truly enjoy the resources available on and off campus. The city is indeed your campus, NYU is the 3rd largest real estate owner in New York City, after the Catholic Church and Columbia (it was #2 until 2004). Those that need to stay away would be those that expect the typical college experience with a football stadium and frat-dominated partie...

NYU: Be Careful What You Wish For
NYU is a private univerity located in the neighborhood of Greenwich Village. There is an extremely large undergraduate population. There are several undergraduate schools- the College of Arts and Sciences, Stern (the business school), Gallatin (individualized study), Steinhardt School of Education, and the Tisch school, as well as many graduate schools. There are many clubs and organizations. The most important thing to know about NYU is that you will be living smack dab in the middle of the cit...

NYU: Life in the big city
If you don't know what you want to do, go to NYU. Chances are, NYU offers your major or course of study. However, it's a pain to transfer between schools at NYU, so be careful of that. If you're looking for a school where you'll have small classes, meet with professors outside of class, and develop good relationships with your advisors, choose another school.

NYU: Not your typical college experience
Go to NYU if you're looking for something other than the typical college experience. You'll learn to be independent and grow-up a bit faster in the ways of the world in comparison to the students at other colleges. Academically, it is great, and if anything, it still looks great on your resume. NYU really does seem to strive to prepare you for the working world, as well as life in general.

NYU: Big School, Big City
The best advice I can give a student considering this school is to realize that there is no campus and the city can take a considerable amount of getting used to. I chose the school because of its film program and opportunities to get involved in the industry during school. Kids who are shy or really particular about their personal space should stay away.

NYU: NYU: Post-Graduation Lifestyle in Your Freshman Year
The biggest piece of advice I could give is do not think you are going to suddenly going to be swept away into a Sex and the City or Friends lifestyle. You are living in a full-blown city - one person out of 8 million. Your days do not involve shopping on 5th Avenue, rather searching for cheap eats and going to class. NYU is for independent people. Everyone likes to view themselves as independent, but you really need to evaluate yourself before coming here - can you really survive it on ...

NYU: NYU isn't for everybody
I have wanted to be a film director my whole life, so NYU was a no brainer for me because they have one of the most well regarded film programs in the world. i went to the school without visiting it or doing any tours, and I don't regret my decision. My professors are fantastic because they are all very passionate about what they are doing, because they are all major players in their respective fields. The work load has not been bad, however I have not felt very challenged by the assignme...

NYU: New York University good for city lovers
Before deciding whether or not to go to NYU, make sure that you do not want the 'typical' college campus. You will not find typical college parties or students throwing frisbies around the quad. You will, however, really get to know and love the city. If you are an outgoing person who would get sick of the same people and the same scenes over and over, then come to NYU. If you want a community feel than NYU is not for you.

NYU: Great for some things, not so great for others...
All in all, NYU is a great school, especially if you like your major and find out what you'd like to pursue your degree in.
