Northeastern: Couldn't wish for a better school
I love this school so much. I just finished my freshman year and had the best experience of my life. This year, me and my friends participated in a 24 hour scavenger hunt "Husky hunt" around Boston for 12 jet blue tickets, rioted in the 2007 World Series riots, red sox parade, and got a full on experience of Boston's obesession with college hockey (the BEANPOT). Especially the rivalry between NU and BU. If you are the kind of person who wants to experience what college has to offer, meaning: sc...

Northeastern: 3rd Year Reflections
NU is a better school than many of its rankings show. NU Students are very self-motivated with an eye on the real world. You should know your major coming in, because being undecided is a great disadvantage here. Most programs at NU are 5 years because of the co-op program. This is an amazing program that lets you work in your field full time. If you don't want to do co-op, then you're in the wrong school. Also becauase of co-op, you will be taking summer classes. But it's not...

Northeastern: Work hard, play hard
Northeastern is an engineering school. Yeah, they have other majors, but there are a lot of activities around here geared towards the engineering undergrad. Students who do well here are very independant and know how to budget their time. Freshman year is only 15 classroom hours a week and you usually get fridays off. You can expect to get TWO hours of homework for every hour of class, so be prepared. Sometimes you can party too hard and neglect your studies.

Northeastern: Reflections from a 1st Year
I was looking for a school in the heart of a city with good academics and wanted a private unaffiliated school that wasn't going to act like another set of parents (I'm leaving home for a reason!). NU is great if you are responsible and can manage your time well because we are so close to great things such as Newberry St and Fenway Park, but the academics aren't easy so you have to stay on task and get your work done as well. Everyone always complains here about how much the univer...

Northeastern: A Mixed Bag
The biggest piece of advice I can give to a high school student considering Northeastern is simple: Don't believe the hype. I chose this school primarily because of the Co-op program, which it continually touts at every orientation session and at every parents luncheon. But I wonder if the program actually lives up to the hype. I admit I am a freshman, so I have never actually gone on Co-op yet, but from what I hear, it's not always what you may expect. Not all Co-ops are paid (which is...

Northeastern: Northeastern University Does It Different
Anyone less than 100% sure of exactly what degree they want and what they want to do with it should seriously consider NU. With the convenience of the co-op cycles, a student gets real life experience in their intended major by the end of their second year, allowing a student the chance to change their major. Otherwise, they are in serious risk of disliking their line of work. Two years in the wrong major may seem like a waste, but how much worse would it be if you received a four-year degree...

Northeastern: Good Because of Co-Op
If you are considering NU, make sure you really get a good understanding of your major and its department. NU is excellent for certain majors, and not as good for others. If you are undecided, though, you should be fine because NU has a ridiculous variety of majors to choose from. Just make sure that if you come here, you are open to meeting people right away. People get very cliquish early on, so make many different groups of friends. It's just a better way. Cliques are really stupid.

Northeastern: Love this school
It doesn't get any better than this school. NU is the place to have fun, meet new people, and learn. I chose it because of its strong reputation and great enviroment. My first impression when I first saw it was as if it was the school of the future... new buildings and beautiful spaces makes the school look like heaven. The type of students that come here are very motivated. If you are considering NU (and many people do!), if you are not here to take it seriously, be warned: classes can be...

Northeastern: Great Resources
If you are planing to go to Northeatern the best advice is to take advantage of all its resources. NU is a school with oportunities like no other. The reason why I chose it rather than other schools like BU or Harvard was because of its strong sense of community and pride, not to mention its beautiful campus and growing prestige. If you are the kind of student who doesn't like to meet new people and have fun this isn't the place for you.

Northeastern: Gotta Be Self Motivated
You have to be self-motivated and ready for the city. Although you "don't have to be Harvard material to get in," as "The U" repeatedly remarked, you really can expect to work as hard here as your friends over at Harvard. There's not quite as much grade inflation going as at Harvard though, so you might have to put in a bit more effort to get that A. Professors aren't scared to give B's and C's to students that deserve them. I chose NU because I have plans to go onto law scho...

Northeastern: tokyo to boston...
The best feature, hands down is the Co-op Program: I don’t really learn too well in classes - I learn hands-on style. We don’t really get a summer break. We go to school for I believe like a month or so. Go to classes 4 times a week. The classes are generally longer than normal classes about 2 hours long and you take like 2 classes a day so 4 hours of school.

Northeastern: dorm room explosion
If you go to classes they’re easy if you go to them and do all the work then they’re very easy like a few of us were in honors and it’s not like they’re impossible. If you don’t go to them and you don’t do anything. Like they take attendance, you can only miss like 3 classes or else your grade is dropped and if you miss 5, you’re kicked out of the class. Well, my dorm blew up…last week. There was an explosion and it burned down. It was fun before then. Now it’s not fun...

Northeastern: NU for the Co-op system
I really liked the co-op program, and I wanted to be in a city. I wouldn’t say that it’s super challenging. The amount of work is definitely manageable. I would say it’s not too difficult but it does keep your mind going, it’s not boring. The 5-year program basically just means that you spend more time in school, less vacations, but we take the same amount of classes as somebody would at a 4-year school and spend as much time in class. The business school at NU just has basically a...

Northeastern: Hustle and bustle at NU
I chose NU because it is, first, in the city and I wanted to go to a city school and the other thing was it had a co-op: we work and study at the same time, which is very useful for experience when you graduate. The Co-op program is a program which you work for a semester about 3 semesters in the 5-year program and the school helps you find a co-op, but you can also do it yourself. And most of the co-ops are paid so that’s a good part of it.

Northeastern: It's gonna take you more than 4 years
I’m from Miami, so it’s 90؛ weather, year round so up here, anything below 60 is freezing to me. So the winters here are terrible and they get worse and worse and worse as the news puts it, but they’re not that bad, like I got used to them real quick. And I was going out wearing t-shirts at night when everybody had 3 sweaters, so you get used to it over time. There are underground tunnels that go from building to building, yet, I still don’t know how they work, so I never use them. ...
