Northwestern: Work hard, play hard
NU is the place for the A average student who can work hard but also wants to play hard. You have to be motivated to learn, but with all of the star professors and the variety of available classes, that shouldn't be a problem. I chose NU because I didn't want the pressure of a Yale student, but I still wanted to attend a top rated university. Besides, we're on a beautiful lake and a 1/2 hour El ride from the city. Northwestern: Driven
Ever see that MTV show "Driven?" If they did one on an I-Banker, Journalist, or Doctor, it would take place at Northwestern. Students at Northwestern are incredibly stressed out, incredibly motivated, and incredibly smart. Northwestern: So F*ing Hard!
I came to Northwestern because i wanted to go to a really "good"/prestigous college and I wanted to stay relatively close to home (only 45 mins away). If you are looking for a school that is party oriented, then i'd say stay away from Northwestern, but if limiting patying to a weekend or so a month is not that big of a deal to you, then you could definitely pull off going here. Northwestern: Good Old NU
Northwestern is a great school. You will be sourounded by intelligent, motivated people. Evanston is a great town too. However, the townies will not like you (but business owners will love you). The social scene is perfectly fine, despite what many people say. Join the right greek house and you will have as much or as little social life as you choose. Definately go greek though!

Northwestern: Good all around
NU is great because it works for a wide variety of people from partiers to lock yourself in the dorm with video games geeks. The campus is gorgeous, downtown Evanston and Chicago rock. There's a very high-power, fast-paced urban glamour feel. There's everything you could ask for for entertainment and to top it off the school has good, well-rounded academics and prestige. Northwestern: Can't get Chicks
I think me, out of all of the other kids here, have probably tried the hardest to get a chick and haven’t found any success. So far, like as of right now, I’m kind of interested in the chicks with boyfriends. So I’m kind of trying to befriend them and if they have a boyfriend down there, like South campus, I’m trying to become like their North Campus boyfriend.

Northwestern: Love at First Sight and Not Just for Smart People
I had seen the school before and I loved the campus, I thought that the campus was one of the most beautiful campuses I’d seen. All the other schools I applied to really didn’t stack up in terms of how the campus was and how nice it was. It was a small campus so you can get everywhere…and also they had my major. They’re one of the best Biomedical Engineering schools and so it was great fit.

Northwestern: When it Comes to Dating: Frostbite (It's Mental)
I actually was as Chair Peer the summer of 2003 before my senior year. And like NWU was just like off the chain. I loved everything about this campus, I loved the people that I met on campus. Northwestern: On Grants to India, Rough Winters
Winters are rough. I mean, it’s kind of hard to get up for class in the morning and go, but I mean, you get through it and it’s totally worth it just fall and spring wise. I’d have to say there isn’t a typical NWU student. I think there’s actually a lot of different groups at NWU just like very multi-faceted, very diverse in its ways just because, I mean, I’m personally part of Greek Life and I could say there’s a typical student that involved in the sororities and fraternit...

Northwestern: Waaay Better Than Detroit
I think I chose the school because of the city. I live outside of Detroit so I don’t really have a city - you only go there if you want to get shot - so Chicago, being one of the 3 biggest cities in the country was kind of appealing. And this is kind of suburban. It’s not right in the heart of the city. The typical NWU student is relatively responsible. I mean everyone here is pretty smart, or they wouldn’t have gotten in here, but a lot of people overworked themselves in high sch...

Northwestern: Comings and Goings
As a commuter, you don’t get to experience the entire NWU life. You don’t have that much of a social scene. You don’t get involved with the activities, I think…Living on campus definitely defines NWU experience.

Northwestern: First Choice
Northwestern was my first choice. I loved the area, to have a city around it. Chicago is great, I mean you have Magnificent Mile, all these different kinds of people you have so much stuff to do here.

Northwestern: Famous Faculty
Another one of the famous professors here at NWU is Professor Silverman. He brought on one of the first drugs to treat Alzheimer’s disease that sold to Pfizer for a lot of money. A lot of my friends are trying to get internships with him and they are all very jealous of those that are able to get in.

Northwestern: Evanston Hates Us, But We Love It
I like Evanston—I mean the town hates us, but what I think it has to offer students is there’s lots of thing to do here. I mean as far as restaurants and we have some of the best restaurants in the suburbs of Chicago.

Northwestern: Not Your Typical College Town
I actually transferred here from a different University and I came here for the reputation of the Pre-Medical Program.

Northwestern: Not Enough Competition
I feel like there was more competition in high school. We tend to help each other out. Form study groups and stuff. So I really don’t think there’s too much competition here.

Northwestern: Cheerleading Near Chi-Town
It’s a great school, great programs, and it’s close to Chicago. There’s always something to do in Evanston. There’s always a ton of restaurants and there’s a couple good bars and you can always go into Chicago, so there’s always something to do around here. The students here are very competitive, very hard-working types. Really care about school, a lot and that shows in their work and in their play, too. Northwestern: Engineering and Everything
I wanted a school that was in a small town near a big city and I kind of liked Chicago was amazing there were so many fun things going on during the summer especially. Northwestern: The Metamorphoses
I decided to come to NWU because I saw a show in NY, Metamorphoses, that one of the professors at NWU had directed. She actually won a Tony Award for it and I was so in love with the show that I found out that the entire thing had been created here and I had my parents get me on a plane and we flew out the next week and I decided this is where I wanted to go since I found out it was the best theatre school in the country that wasn’t a conservatory so that I could get my liberal arts education...

Northwestern: Bombay Dream
I come from a really standard Indian family so my parents are all about going to a good school with a good medicine program and stuff. I came to NWU as an engineer originally and I really liked the campus when I saw it and I decided that this would be the place for me out of all the colleges that accepted me.

Northwestern: College in a City!
I decided to come to NWU because mainly it’s so close to Chicago, the location is unbelievable and it’s the perfect sized school for me. I think Northwestern’s wonderful because it definitely gives you a somewhat city atmosphere, but it still provides a campus-feel. I would say the majority of students that go to NWU were probably some of the top students in their classes and definitely overachievers.
