Rhodes: The Real Diehl
I chose Rhodes originally because I was looking for a northeastern liberal-arts style school in an urban area of the South. I've got to hand it to the communications department and administration--Rhodes is obsessed with its image. They pitch magazines filled with smiling faces in magazines and have a website full of "statistical flexing;" that is, filled with BS-laden profiles of perfect students who are "making a difference." I want you to make your own judgement about the school. To do ...

Rhodes: On the Rhodes
It is a smart school. There is some breather room, but if you don't care about succeeding, don't come to Rhodes. It also has a gorgeous, safe campus - and for the most part people are honest and friendly - probably more so than other schools.

Rhodes: Ridiculously Awesome, but Not Perfect
First of all, Rhodes is a small school: approximately 1700 students. This facet of Rhodes is perhaps the most important to keep in mind. Some people feel that Rhodes is a lot like a high school simply because everyone has at least heard of everyone else. Anonymity is very hard, if not impossible, to maintain at small schools, and Rhodes is no exception. So anything from embarrassing nights to hook-ups to roommate stories will not go unnoticed nor forgotten. You'll run into these people, and...

Rhodes: A Rhodent Perspective
I chose Rhodes for its small and intimate size, location in a midsize city, academic reputation, and fairly regional diverse student body. Like most, the collegiate feel of the gothic architecture played a part in my choice. Once I got here, I loved the intimacy of the community on campus-with professors, staff, my involvements, other students- and getting to explore Midtown and Downtown restaurants (I love food!). What people seem to dislike most about Rhodes is how it gets to feel really small...

Rhodes: The Liberal Atheist's Opinion
Visit if at all possible, and really talk to as many people as you can. I chose it for the majors, city, greek life, honor code and size. I wish I'd known that it's hard to go to Beale Street for concerts until you're 21. Also, rush almost starts on day one, so meet as many students as possible before making a choice. It's really hard to get in after freshmen year. The academics here are perfect- challenging and interesting, and I hope the school gains recognition. For liberal, artsy, intellec...

Rhodes: Inside Rhodes
The first thing a high school student should consider is size. Rhodes is very small and that size has a huge impact on the campus atmosphere. If you don't want your professors to know your name (and when you're not in class), don't 'come to Rhodes. Do you want to discuss your ideas and have them challenged by professors and students alike? Do you want to know or at least know of most of the student body? Do you want to work really hard? Do you want to complain about how expensive everythin...

If you want anonymity and classes you can skip run away quickly! The professors are great and really care about the students and classes are small (avg is 13) so they'll know when you're not there. I was sick on day for intro to chem and my prof called me to see how I was feeling.

I would suggest that the student really consider the benefits and drawbacks of the size of Rhodes. I really love the tight-knit, friendly community, but I do miss the excitement of large-scale athletic events. For me, the tradeoff was worth it, but I don't think that is the case for all students.

Rhodes: Thrilling Ride
I chose Rhodes because I was interested in an environment that would provide me with a challenging, but fun education. I toured ivy leagues, large state schools, and many small liberal arts institutions during my search for the perfect place. Rhodes provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a beautiful historic campus located in a lively city. The academics at Rhodes are very rigorous but worth the trouble because the professors are enthusiastic about teaching and helping students. I wou...

Rhodes: Great School for Success-Oriented People
The main reasons I chose Rhodes were the people I met as a prospective student and the feel of the campus in general. The campus pretty much speaks for itself. The people I met while visiting were warm, welcoming, and friendly. Now that I'm a student, I've discovered that there isn't much of a social hierarchy here. People just generally get along with each other, which is great. What I didn't realize before I got here was how much I'd enjoy the size of the school. It's small enough to know your...

Rhodes: from a sophomore...
Rhodes is a small school! In a big city. The school is good and getting better about providing things to do especially on the weekends, but there is always Memphis to explore. Athletics really aren't a big deal here, but the games are still fun to go to. Students in general work hard and play hard. Neither hard there is as hard as at a lot of other schools, but i haven't been to other schools.

Rhodes: Rhodes Review
Do you want small classes? Do you want to be pushed outside your academic comfort zone? Do you want to question your life, your values, your beliefs? Do you want to truly learn? Rhodes will provide those things for you in full force if you choose to take advantage of its opportunities. A student who will be happy at Rhodes is one who is willing to put forth effort, engage themselves in activities outside the classroom, and be willing to live with a few very superficial people.

Rhodes: Rhodes College
I chose my school based on many factors. Rhodes gave me a really good scholarship: one of the better ones I recieved from the 6 schools I was acceptes to. Rhodes also has an unique atmosphere- it's small enough to really know your professors and people in your classes and get involved on campus, but large enough to blend in and be somewhat anonymous if you so choose.
