a lot of high schoolers from NJ dont look on it so highly because its "just the state school." I was one of those people, then got here, and realized that everyone around me is really smart (top 5 percent of their class, etc) and i am not even living in honors dorms. SO many smart people, yet everyone has a good time. there are parties, there are study groups, there is sports, rutgers has everything.

Whatever you do here if you come, stay true to yourself, and try not to change. This cannot be stressed enough. Everyone here is so different, and it can be easy to get washed into the wrong crowd for you. I don't mean the drug/alcohol/party crowd!! If that's who you are go for it! I just mean make friends who you are comfortable with.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time on buses, which you should be good at already since you are in high school. Rutgers was close to home and I thought it would be fun. You need to be very open-minded and diversified to attend this school.

I chose Rutgers because I did not want to go out of state mostly for financial reasons and out of the New Jersey schools I liked it the best. Like any other school the food isnt that great but they have some good academic programs and if you are interested in graduate study this is a good place for you to come and do some undergraduate research to help in that process. A student who wants small classes and is afraid of a big school shouldnt come to Rutgers.

The school is huge and has a strong science program. You can find anything you could possibly think of in the school. But then again because of the size it is very easy to get lost.
