SUNY Albany: You Want It, We Got It
I chose UAlbany because I wanted a large University with a smaller college feel. That's exactly what I've found here. Enough kids to stay entertained over four years, but lots of familiar faces so you always feel comfortable. UAlbany has a reputation for being a party school, but that's a very limited stereotype of the place since we have so many committed, brilliant students alongside the party kids (in fact: many times, the same kid can be both!). And to be honest, you shouldn...

SUNY Albany: Not for Small Town People!
If you're a small town person, you might want to avoid the city life of U Albany. It can be overwhelming and alienating. If you're the kind of person who can't imagine not drinking at least 5 nights a week, U Albany may be for you. Just don't forget, you do have to study. Also make sure you don't eat on campus! The food is disgusting, and can make you sick.

SUNY Albany: Come to SUNY, Leave in a Stretcher
I picked SUNY Albany for all the wrong reasons (boyfriend, close to my hometown, etc.) but I got lucky...my first year here has had more good times than bad, and the pros at SUNY definitely outweight the cons. The night life is overwhelming, and if you're like me and lack self-control yet desire a high GPA and overall health, coming to U at A might not be the best idea because the bars are ALWAYS open.

SUNY Albany: University at Albany
The great thing about UAlbany is the fact that no matter what your interests are you will be able to find a group of friends since it is such a large school (16,000). The other benefit of having a larger school is the huge variety of classes one can choose from and the professors it draws in to due intense research in a number of fields. This is very helpful when applying to graduate school for a number of reasons, including getting a recommendation from a respected professor in his field. H...

SUNY Albany: It's a good time!
Honestly, SUNY Albany was my safety school and I didn't think I would come here in a million years. However, the cost was definetely affordable. I thought that the education here is worth the money I'm paying (Editor's Note: SUNY Albany's tuition is low for New York state students). If you don't like big schools, a lot of people and drinking...don't go here. The party scene is ridiculous, you can go out any night of the week and have a great time. Plus the prices are...

SUNY Albany: Self-Motivated Students Unite!
Choose UAlbany if you are self-motivated and seeking a school where you can say hello to 20 friends on your way to class. Aside from that, imagine any major you could possibly want, classes in every field possible, and an administration that supports all dreams, not only the "signature" departments. It's all the resources of a private school, for half the price.

SUNY Albany: Opportunities Abound
This school stands out in both Liberal Arts and Natural Sciences. My particular interest, Nanotechnology, is particularly well served here with one of the only programs in the nation...and one of the best in the world at that. On the other end of the spectrum, in talking to friends who aren't yet sure what they want to study, or have changed courses several times since starting here...they also feel stimulated and well supported. It's a nurturing place to figure things out if you ha...

SUNY Albany: The Reality from an Apathist
If you're considering going to SUNY University at Albany, you need a very, very good reason. My reason was to save money. I think that's a good reason in that I didn't have an education fund nor did I want to go into debt for the rest of my life. This, however, may change for many people if Chancellor King and his cronies decide to raise tuition AGAIN without any visible or perceptible benefits to those who attend. If you like having a warm, inviting campus that respects people and a...

SUNY Albany: Something for Everyone
One thing I'll say about Albany is that everyone I know here loves it. This is such a diverse group of kids and there are resources, clubs, courses, and parties to suit your unique needs, whatever those may be.
