UCLA: Bruin Pride
I absolutely love everything about this place. However, because it is so huge, definitely join a club or group of some sort to have close friends. UCLA doesn't have a "party school" reputation, but you could easily find somewhere to party any day of the week if you really want to. The hardest thing to do is balance academics with social activities.

UCLA: Lousy Public University Experience
Lots of possibilties if you can get through the all of the people and survive budget cuts. Be prepared for LARGE classes and LOTS of lousy TA's. NOT worth the money. Another lousy public school.

UCLA: My Greatest Mistake
I chose my school based on its reputation for academic excellence, not to mention the fact that it's smack in the middle of the classiest parts of Los Angeles--Bel Air, Westwood, and the Hollywood Hills. Our rival, USC, can hardly say the same (don't go out at night past the campus gates or a drive-by is sure to ensue). However, if you're a hard partier or someone looking for a beach blonde California hunk, STAY AWAY from UCLA. This is not the place to be to meet the man of your dreams! If you'r...

UCLA: Get a Feel for the Campus!
Visiting the campus is so important. You should get a feel for the campus and determine if you can see yourself there for the four plus years. When I was considering colleges, I visited a few schools that I knew weren't for me. However, when I visited UCLA, I felt right at home. I could see myself being challenged, but could also see that I would still be able to have fun. If you disregard academics and just want to party, this isn't the school for you.

UCLA: UCLA IS AWESOME - READ THIS! Posters Saying Otherwise Are Crazy!!!
THE VIDEO SHOWS IT AS IT IS, read the rest for more info on specifics. UCLA's academic programs are highly ranked; most of its programs rank in the top 20 for academic quality in the United States according to the National Research Council. It also received 47,226 freshman applications for undergraduate admission in Fall 2006, more than any other university in the United States. The sports teams, who compete as the Bruins, have won 118 national championships and 97 NCAA championships as...

UCLA: Where the Weather is Great and the People Rock
The best advice I can give to a new or prospective student is to not let the laid back attitude fool you. If you are not serious about your education, you will find yourself in academic trouble very quickly. Everything at UCLA is based on a curve so if you are not serious about your studies, you'd better bet the person next to you is and they are your competition. Also living in the dorms is not your best choice; they are okay, but not great. You are better off either living in the university ap...

UCLA: UCLA Depresses Me
I am a current Freshman at UCLA. Last spring I was given the option to attend UC Berkeley as a spring admit or UCLA as a regular admit. I loved everything about Berkeley- I loved the social atmosphere, the academic prestige, and I especially have always loved the Bay Area. However, it was farther away from home and at that time, I was reluctant to attend UC Berkeley due to the rumors of its fierce competition and its cut throat grading system. So UCLA kind of fell into my hands as default. Now t...

UCLA: Diveristy and You
UCLA is a very diverse campus. I don't think there is just one basis on which you should decide to attend or not attend. No two people have the same experience here, and I think that is one of the biggest selling points. This school is what you make it. The only high school students that should think twice are those that do not motivate themselves or struggled to earn good grades. UCLA does not hold your hand, students must take the initiative in everything from making friends to planning c...

UCLA: UCLA: Not All It's Cracked Up To Be!
I would like to say to all the high school students out there that they must choose wisely! UCLA may fool you just like it fooled me. UCLA is such a horrible school and everyone here is not at all smart as they pretend to be. They are all rejects of the other great university up north if you know what i'm talking about (Berkeley). I myself only came to UCLA because it is close to home but it was a total mistake. Everything that is somewhat okay about UCLA is taken from some other school...

UCLA: Academics Suck!
I chose it because it was close to home. After a while, though, I realized I really needed my independence and I needed to move away from family for a while. That's still a work in progress. Also, I chose it because it sounds like a good school. However, I do remember one professor once saying that the UCLA professors don't really get paid for teaching... just for research. So they can be the crappiest professors ever, and you can't do a thing... unless they molest you.

UCLA: UCLA: Perfect Overall (if you're ready for it)
There are a number of reasons why a young college student would want to go to school here and live here. UCLA is one of the best universities in the world (seriously), our atheletic program has been said to be the best in the nation and you're in one of the best areas of one of the largest cities in the world, Los Angeles. A student who doesn't like meeting people, making friends, living on their own, living in a big place full of diverse people should not apply.

UCLA: There's no place like UCLA! It's wonderful!
UCLA is amazing! That is, if it's the school for you. I find that most every student at UCLA was a top student at their high school, but was also very well-rounded. If you can see yourself thriving at a huge school in a huge city, then you can reap the benefits of the best UCLA has to offer: endless opportunities. As there are so many students here, you find diversity and opportunity in everything. It is competitive, and no one is going to hold your hand (in most cases, you are pretty m...

UCLA: Quarters aren't just for laundry
The quarter system, at first I really hated it because I transferred. I used to go to a semester system school and it goes by so fast so if you’re not like on top of it you’re totally going to fall behind.

UCLA: Money, Money
I think that LA is definitely a little more materialistic than northern California. People definitely show their money more and you know wear all the latest trends, even if their not really popular or attractive or anything like that. You see like one girl wearing Uggs and a mini-skirt one day and then like 10 the next, its kind of ridiculous. I don’t think very many people experience much outside their socioeconomic group. There’s not much integration in terms of that.

UCLA: The Beach (need I say more?)
It’s southern California you know so you’ve got the beach, you have the weather. It’s big but you feel like you know almost everyone. You see someone everywhere you go.

UCLA: Beauty and Brains
I would say the average UCLA student is obviously pretty intelligent, which is a nice change from high school.People are very involved in campus and very interested and aware of what’s going on in the world.
