UMD - UMCP: LOVE MARYLAND!!
I chose maryland because it was a big, diverse school with all types of people and lots of opportunities. it is also really big on school spirit, which I love. A student who does not like to be around thousands of people should stay away.

UMD - UMCP: M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D!
Maryland is a great school for students who are looking to experience new things in college or try to "find themselves". There are so many oppurtunities to meet different people and take part in different experiences. However, for students that are very sheltered and want to stay in their comfort zone, Maryland could be a tricky choice. For those students, it could be very important to come to Maryland with some loose ideas of what they want to get out of college, so they don't get overwhelm...

UMD - UMCP: Challenging but Fun
If you're not ready to jump head first into a school full of Marylanders, then try for a more diversified school. Otherwise, this school has got everything. From student groups to great sports, there is always so much to do. It is close to both Washington D.C. (accessable on the metro) and Baltimore (you're going to need a car for convenience!). The classes are extremely stimulating and the faculty is open and willing to form relationships with students. Some of the programs need a littl...

UMD - UMCP: Love For the Black and Gold
There's a lot to do here. And by a lot, I mean everything. It's a big school, but that just means there are many more opportunities to make it smaller. I know they say you'll find your niche ad nauseum on their website, but it's true. Some of the clubs that myself and/or my friends are involved in: UMD Skydiving. Varsity Knitting, Scrabble club, various a capella groups and our campus radio station.

UMD - UMCP: UMD: Learn the "terp"inology
Even though Maryland is a huge state school with over 25,000 undergrads, it is surprisingly easy to find your niche in school clubs and other organizations. Because there are so many people, there is always something going on. I chose this school because of its high academic standing, quality professors and programs, and thriving social scene. The student who should stay away from UMD is one who is very closed-minded and keeps to him/herself.

UMD - UMCP: Maryland, My Maryland
Maryland is a school to go to if you want lots of options. You have to make decisions independently but the advising departments will be more than happy to help you once you have made your choice. The school takes up a lot of space and includes a lot of people so you have to involve yourself to get the most out of your experience. The students who get the most out of Maryland are the ones who don't have a problem meeting new people and finding friends. If you need constant supervision or dor...

UMD - UMCP: Always be outgoing
To be a Maryland estudent, you have to make yourself stand out from the 30,000 other people on campus. Maryland is a huge school, with many opportunities open to all the students. Students, especially freshman, have to learn how to balance their rigerous schedules, their social life, and extra-curriculars. Even though Maryland has a great social scene, its not a party school. University of Maryland academic programs, especially business, government, and journalism are very hard. Many of these p...

UMD - UMCP: Go Maryland!
My freshman year I came in and we won the ACC in football, which was pretty amazing right here and we won the national championship in basketball. So I think I hit it at the good times. It’s been amazing. I love waking up Saturdays and come over here, tailgating with friends….teams been great and the fan support is really good. We go straight from football season. We have all the excitement of the crowd and everything and this place is really rocking and then basketball season comes around an...

UMD - UMCP: small fish, big pond
I think Maryland’s a great place and I came here from Savannah, GA so I didn’t really know anyone and its just been a really great experience and I think that for the most part there’s a lot offered on this campus and its really just up to you to seek it out and take advantage of all the university has to offer. It was really intimidating to go into classrooms that have 400, 500 people in the beginning cause most freshman lecture halls will be that big, but after a while you become more into ...

UMD - UMCP: Diversity reigns
The dating scene is pretty good. There’s a lot of cute girls around here. The frats usually take up a lot of that - you meet a lot of people that way. Religious groups have their own date parties where you can meet someone of your own culture, religion, background. More people than I expected have boyfriends and girlfriends, so its not all random and dirty. The drinking scene is huge. Frat parties are real popular. They don’t have the biggest houses in the world so they usually fill up pretty fa...

UMD - UMCP: Like Riots?
You can’t just touch on sports when you talk about Maryland. Sports plays a huge role, we’ve got ACC football, ACC everything. Our lacrosse team, our football team, our basketball team, fairly large. Especially our freshman year. There’s like 36,000 students, undergraduate at this school, so you kind of run into a lot of people.
