UMass - Amherst: = <3
This school is amazing. It was my first choice school. I chose it because it was cheap, i live 90 minutes away, it's a party school, but you also get a great education. People just need to learn how to balance school work and partying. It's really not that hard to do. I go out every weekend (thurs-sat) and still managed to make the dean's list both semesters last year. Just get your work done. You gotta work hard to play hard. You have to think about the money your wasting not doing good in scho...

UMass - Amherst: Alumni Appreciation
Don't assume you know the real UM Amherst until you've looked a little deeper. This is a place that fosters real scholarship, protects your freedom and independence, exposes you to new and diverse ideas, surrounds you with beauty of the Pioneer Valley, invites you to sample coursework at the other fine colleges in the Five-College Consortium, finds the greatest professors in the world to inspire you, enriches the co-curricular program with thought-provoking events and speakers, and more. This is...

UMass - Amherst: Josh
I chose UMASS at first because It was basically and affordable state school that had many options. I was worried about the whole "zoo" reputation and the large size. I'm not a huge party animal. But now I can tell you I LOVE IT!!!! If you find the right friends and live in a residential area that fits who you are. then you're good. You find you're own niche and forget about the fact that the school is rather large.

UMass - Amherst: I Want a refund
Social Scene: Lots of parties, you can find a dorm parties every night around campus, on weekends usually Fridays and and Saturdays you will find massive frat parties where people will drink to get completely drunk and pass out. If you are quiet, studious, and well..not a big partier DO NOT under ANY circumstance live in Southwest residential area. Just don't. I almost failed out due to lack of sleep and stress. I really wish I could get a refund for first semester, it was a living he...

UMass - Amherst: Wouldn't want to be anywhere else…
UMass is a very exciting place. The sports are fun to watch, lots of big names play shows locally, and the area is great. I would not go UMass if you wanted an intimate student body. Most of the people you see on campus any given day are complete strangers. There's something nice about that though. I have heard from students who go to smaller schools that they hate running into people they don't want to talk to all the time. I find you do see people you know frequently, but usually...

UMass - Amherst: UMass
I did not actively consider UMass while applying for schools. I am from out-of-state and kind of just ended up going to UMass...but I am so glad it happened. UMass is a huge school, and at first it may be intimidating. But believe me you adjust and end up loving it. Becuase it is so big, there are endless options for classes, there are tons of people to meet, and there are millions of other things to participate in (ie parties, clubs, groups etc.) If you do choose to go to UMass, I think it is i...

UMass - Amherst: THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD PERIOD!
GET INVOLVED IN SOMETHING! Join a fraternity/sorority, join a club, play one of our dozens of intramural sports, go to plays, concerts, musicals, NCAA Division 1 athletics. UMass has everything you could ever think of, so there is no excuse for complaining about nothing to do. Attend these events and you'll make a pretty strong friend base in no time. I chose this school for the affordability and the size. I love big cities, and a big campus with 20,000 students was perfect for me. I make a ...

UMass - Amherst: ZOOMass
You have to learn to balance work and play to the best of your abilities at UMass because you can really set yourself behind. The high school-to-college leap is a big change but i recommend joining sports or club teams because you make tons of friends and it's always a great time. Also when first coming to college, books are very expensive, so try to find someone to split the cost with or wait it out in a class to see if you really need to buy the book in the long run.

UMASS Amherst is a good school for kids looking to meet new friends. No need to know anyone coming in, thanks to Freshman Programs (EPOCH, as they are called here).

UMass - Amherst: UMASS SUCKS
UMASS is slowly becoming an elitest school that doesn't give a shit about the common student. The Chancellor is a racist, who has refered to other school's officials as OREOS. The education aside from the sciences, is substandard. The only good thing about UMASS is the parties

UMass - Amherst: It's a fun, safe campus!
They have scholarships and loans. We have like a small loan, but we don’t need too much cause we're not paying anything compared to the other schools.

UMass - Amherst: Fun Safety School
I applied to three different schools, I also applied to Boston College and Villanova, I think this school is definitely a lot easier. I’m trying to get straight A’s but if I wanted to I could pass, I think, and barely ever go to class. Especially the first two years we have mainly 400 person lectures – they're gonna go so slow just to accommodate everyone. It was really pretty easy.

UMass - Amherst: Want a great mix of parting and school?!
In the news there are a lot of budget cuts I hear about teachers loosing jobs, staff going down. But I haven’t noticed anything with class sizes increasing or anything.
