University of Miami: Im In MIAMI B***H!! just kidding, just kidding.
My advice would be to stay away from this school if you don't have discipline. Discipline is key when going here, but once you master it this will most surely be the best four years of your life. Yes, like any other school there are snooty, stuck up people...but the majority of people Iv'e met here are happy open, smart indivisuals that enjoy a good time.

I would tell a high school student considering my school to bring sunblock. That wasn't a joke, but honestly, the University of Miami has a lot of opportunity to blow off class and spend your life tanning, but most kids here are on academic scholarship and would prefer not to lose it. Most students here learn to time-manage quickly, balancing the temptation to bask in the Florida sun with the obligations that come with being in an ever-improving academic environment.

There is no better school to attend than UM. The only adjusting needed is being able to have entirely too much fun. But, we also study really hard here. It's a perfect balance of work and play.

The University of Miami is an amazing school that perfectly combines high academia with partying! Keep in mind that you can't get too caught up in the action, otherwise you won't be sticking around for all four years. If you can take full advantage of the University, and the fact that you are living in Miami, you are sure to be very successful. I was very happily surprised when I came here because it looks just like a resort. Everyone pretty much looks like they are going to the beach so it felt pretty resorty.Coral Gables is an amazing area, very upscale, really safe, there’s a lot to do, a lot of restaurants and it’s pretty easy to get around. University of Miami: Don't Worry (too much) about Hurricanes
I’ve been through one major hurricane, that was Hurricane Andrew in 1992 or 93. There was not much damage to my house, but I know that a lot of areas of Miami were hit hard. We had several near misses last year and a lot of students ended up locked up in the dorm for a few days. We had a few near misses last year. Everyone was just kind of stuck and there was a lot of rain and wind.
