University of Michigan: Overrated depending on your standards
Do not trust many of the rankings of UMich. The academic reputation is exaggerated due to the high quality of Ross and engineering. LSA is average at best. Hence, if you're a student interested in the general arts and sciences, this university should not be your first choice if offered alternate options. Many of the students here are the 'work on weekdays, party on weekends' type so don't expect many brilliant and ultra-passionate students of the Harvard/Stanford/Yale/etc league. You won't find ...

University of Michigan: Bureaucracy!
This is a huge, amazing school... unfortunately nobody cares about you here (at least that's how it feels) and you're pretty much on your own. It was a tough transition to get used to, but on a good note if you can make it here you can make it anywhere. I'd say this place is worth it in spite of all of its problems if you're in-state or have some sort of scholarship, otherwise look elsewhere.

University of Michigan: U of M - Not For Everyone
The University of Michigan is a big school. If you wish to succeed here, you have to figure everything out on your own. No one is going to hold your hand. Your advisor is only there to answer questions, and it's possible to go all four years without seeing him/her. If you're an independent person who likes to make your own decisions, this is the school for you. If you rely on others for social, academic and emotional support, you may want to consider other choices. As a fiercely in...

University of Michigan: Challenging but fun
Michigan is a very demanding university if you are going into a science or math field. These areas demand hard work combined with high intelligence and are not suitbale for everyone. Social sciences and humanities are pretty easy and not too stressful. These would be suitable for anyone considering Michigan. I chose to come here mainly for the strong academic reputation and as a fan of Michigan sports. The sports is a good reason to come here, but shouldn't be the only reason. Students that ...

University of Michigan: UofM Review Lets Go Blue
If you're looking for a school with the great, although stereotypical, "college" atmosphere, this is the place to go. I remember 4 years ago trying to decide where to go and I am incredibly happy that I decided to come to the University of Michigan. Not only is it one of the best public schools in the country but the atmosphere in Ann Arbor is amazing. "UofM Sports" is a culture in and of itself and plays a huge part in why "It's Great to be a Michigan Wolverine!" There are also a variet...

University of Michigan: U of M, the College next door
I've always lived around the stadium, even as a kid I would go to the big games because my parents were both alumni (my dad from the College of Engineering, my mom from the School of Nursing). That gave me two of the main reasons why I came here: the top-notch football team--where a "bad" year is when we don't get to the Rose Bowl-- and the vast alumni network. All across the world, you will find U of M alumni, from James Earl Jones to Arthur Miller to former President Gerald Ford. ...

University of Michigan: a MAIZE ing
Do everything early. Apply early, turn in your enrollment depoist early, get an early orientation date, buy football tickets early. Doing everything early will result in better housing, better choices of classes, better seats, etc. Don't be too judgemental. There are so many different people on campus, you have to lose the stereotypes and be aware that just because someone is Asian, doesn't mean that he's smart.

University of Michigan: GRIDLOCK AND TAILGATE
Ann Arbor, in my opinion, is a horrible town to drive through. People just can’t drive anywhere. There’s no parking as it. Especially on game day, the streets turn into sidewalks. Everyone’s walking everywhere. If you’re going to drive to a game, you’ve gotta leave like 5 hours earlier. People make a fortune using their lawns as parking spots or just like grilling or selling t-shirts on the sidewalk. People will pay pretty much anything.

University of Michigan: 20,000 MEN TO CHOOSE FROM
This is probably one of the best campus college towns. It’s a great mix, its cosmopolitan, but it also seems like a small Midwestern town at the same time. The size, even though it’s big, it’s not overwhelming.
