Penn: Penn Is What It Is
I would say if you are considering someplace like Penn obviously do well in your high school academically and make the most of the resources you have available to you. It is a tough place to get into without a doubt. I applied ED to Penn because of the location (in Philly but also close to NYC and DC), the academic reputation, the diversity, and the school culture -- most notably its preprofessional and practical emphasis. I honestly felt that I would have probably fit in better at someplace lik...

Penn: The Fun Ivy!
Penn's four undergrad schools are amazing. We are without a doubt the most fun Ivy League school. Students are so involved and passionate but also know how to have fun and manage a huge workload. If you don't like working hard and playing hard, you should pretty much stay away. During New Student Orientation, expect to be pampered with elaborate University run parties. Don't expect to remember anything- especially the names of the 20 billion people you introduced yourself to. Get rea...

Penn: Best. School. Ever.
Every Ivy is going to give you a great liberal arts education...duh. But Penn is special, because not only can you do history, econ or Chinese, but you can also add some marketing, negotiations (learn to screw like Penn alum Donald Trump), management, or other skills to help you deal with business (and this isn't just for Wharton students; anyone at Penn can take these classes). You just can't do that at Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. And let's be honest, unless you're in Communist...

Penn: Big School!
The best advice I could give someone applying to Penn is to keep in mind what type of school they want in terms of size; Penn has 20,000 students, and for some people that is too large. Professors are accessible, and classes apart from lectures are relatively small, but it is still something to keep in mind. I chose Penn because of its prestige, and its size. The type of student who isn't prepared to work extremely hard should definitely stay away from Penn; the majority of students here are...

Penn: Da Shiznit
This school is renowned for academic excellence and research programs. All four schools (Wharton, College of Arts & Sciences, Engineering and Nursing) offer top notch education through firsthand experience. Your workload definitely depends on the career you pursue, but you cannot expect to breeze through your studies. Courses are generally challenging, but are well worth the money. You must be ready to put forth the best possible effort to keep up with academics and extracurricular activitie...

Penn: Penn Snapshot
Penn is an amazing institution and as the first univeristy in the nation, from its foundation, Penn has always been about more than just providing professional training or just providing a liberal arts education. With its four undergraduate schools - The College of Arts and Sciences, The Wharton School, the Engineering School and the Nursing School - Penn really does provide a program for all facets. Penn is a beautiful green campus in the heart of a major city. With something to always d...

Penn: University of Pennsylvania
Penn has something for everyone because it's such a big school. The only trick is to make sure you find your niche at Penn. However, it is there, and if you find it you will have an amazing college experience. My years at Penn were the best four years of my life, so if I were to go back in time with the opportunity to choose a different school I would have made the same decision.

Penn: Ben Franklin: Big Man on Campus
Benjamin Franklin is the founder of Penn. He’s really popular around here. He wanted to create a school, where people could learn other things besides religious studies and about God, so he wanted to create a liberal arts education. And so he created Penn. He wanted people to learn math, science, and English and, religion and there wasn’t a school like that before Penn.

Penn: Not a Big Sports School
Penn had like so many opportunities to get involved right away. Like so many ways to make friends, meet people, so it just how much you take advantage of those opportunities and I felt like I made an effort to meet people and get to know the campus right away so I felt really comfortable.

Penn: Wharton: Kind of a Big Deal
The Wharton School, its kind of a big deal on campus, there’s a core curriculum and so you take introductory classes in marketing, finance, accounting, and management, and it kind of gives you a basis to do business, then you can concentrate in a bunch of different fields. It’s kind of like a mini MBA, its not quite as rigorous, it’s a pretty broad education though its definitely not for everybody.

Penn: Work and Party Hard
Being a sophomore is the best situation. Being a sophomore everything literally comes to you, you don’t have to worry about it. You’re living in the frat, you’ve just joined a new frat, new sorority, whatever it is. There’s all this social stuff going on. There are tons of sororities and they all have like such cute girls. In general I would say that the cutest girls are coming from Tri – Delt. The kids that I spend time with for the most part are pretty relaxed. It’s really kind of ...

Penn: Very Social
I think far and away its much more social than most of the Ivy League schools. It’s a lot more diverse as far the kind of people here. You’ll meet all kinds of different people from all over the place. There are lot of international students as well as kids from all over the US. And the party scene is really good compared to most of the Ivy League schools. It’s definitely a big school so you develop your own cliques within the social scene here.
