University of South Carolina - Columbia: Freshman Year
Housing varies greatly throughout campus, tour all the different dorms before deciding. If you are introverted or quite, don't come to this school. Also if you are against greek life, haha either don't come or don't be openly opposed to it, b/c you will be hated and get in fights.

University of South Carolina - Columbia: USC - A Southern Experience
If you're thinking about coming to USC, you're either from South Carolina, or want to get the hell out of wherever you're from. There is a big difference between these two types of people. USC is a great school but students coming from out of state need to be warned. The South is a totally different experience from the North. These "differences" can be good or bad. Before you make the decision to go to school far away, you really need to make sure you're up for a total 180 in wha...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: USC -- An A-OK Place
Choose USC if you want to live somewhere with basic things to do but nothing too special. Other schools have beaches or lakes or whatnot, we have a medium sized city with various normal things to do. It has some great majors, like Journalism and Business. USC is older and thus not 100 percent totally new and technologized, but it does pretty well at keeping up most of the time. My only piece of advice is not to live on campus, live close and off campus instead. Oh, and don't come here if you...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: Anything you would ever want to know about the Cocks!
The University of South Carolina has many different aspects to it. There are good and bad but the coolest thing about this school smack in the middle of the capital of the state is the diversity. Granted, most big state schools have a good range of different people attending, but with our spread out campus you are sure to see hundreds of different people and events everyday! First off, don't attend this school if you don't like warm weather. The campus is spread out across 2 or 3 mil...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: Where There is No "Typical" Student
A high school student that is considering USC, should be informed of a few little things. First, the campus is pretty big and spread out. If you are lazy, morbidly obese, or otherwise immobile, I would not suggest USC because depending on where you live and where your classes are and how fast you walk up stairs and hills, you could be looking at a 5-35 minute walk from class to class or dorm to class or whatever. However, if you are pre-med, pre-law, pharmacy, marine biology, business, internati...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: Easy to Have Fun, Easy to Get Lost
If you're a business major and/or looking to do international business then this school is for you. The Journalism program is top notch as well. College is what you make of it. The teachers here are caring and very knowledgable of their subject matter. However from my personal experience the administrative faculty and staff are not the friendliest people. Parking tickets are a killer; they are eager to give tickets, which will ruin your mood cause to get a ticket you have to find a park...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: The Truth About USC
If you don't like big cities, DON'T come to USC! If you don't like frat boys/sorority girls, DON'T come to USC! If you are scared of bums, DON'T come to USC! That being said, USC is a great school! Most, if not ALL of my professors are very kind and truly care about you as a student-regardless of the fact that you are in a class of 300 people. Live in a dorm freshman year-its the BEST way to meet people! Go downtown, but be aware, the cops are out and they WILL give you a...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: You can keep it mild, or make it wild.
If you are a high school thinking of attending USC, find a student who's already been there for a while, and has their priorities in order and ask them about their experiences. They could help you with anything from recommending professors, to good food, to student organizations, the best places to meet people. A good "mentor", which I didn't think to aquire, could make a big difference in your adjustment to college life, and perhaps even your grades. I chose USC because it is so hist...

University of South Carolina - Columbia: The school of the COCK
Part of why I chose USC was because it's WARM -- I'm from out of state. However, I learned that it's a whole different culture down here, in the South. "Northerners" don't always fit in the best at first, but generally everyone does. I do know a lot of out of staters who transferred though. Southern hospitality isn't all its cracked up to be...
