If you are interested in attending UVA, the biggest piece of advice I can offer is to visit before drawing any conclusions. Virginia is one of the BEST schools in the country for numerous reasons and the best way to find that out is to experience it for yourself. This school is inhabited by mindless drones overwhelmingly. They are all of upper-crust middle-class white families. Don't be suprised if you see a fraternity or sorority house parking lot that looks like a Land Rover and/or Hummer dealership. UVA - University of Virginia: Awesome!
I chose UVa because of its stellar academic reputation. I am a native Floridian, and many people thought it was strange that I went to a school so far away. But UVa's long history and tradition intrigued me, and when I visited I fell in love with the beautiful campus. You should stay away from UVa if you're nonchalant about academics. UVa's classes are challenging, and there are very few "shallow" courses. If you're ready to dive into the deep end, UVa is for you!

As an out-of stater, I constantly get asked, "Why did you choose UVa?" Uva is a great school, with academics and a lot tradition. It's not for everyone; if you don't like preppy kids or difficult classes, UVa is not for you. But, if you enjoy being challenged intellectually, love dressing up for class and like the fraternity and sorority scene, UVa is the place to be. I chose the school because of the great Undergraduate Business program. It is also a very southern school which could be good or bad, depending on yourself and football is very big here too.

You might have been a star at your highschool, but be prepared to be surrounded by stars. Everyone here is just as smart as you, good-looking and friendly. Come with an open mind, as friendships formed in the first few weeks can be some of the strongest and longest-lasting. There's so many memories on the lawn. Each year we light the lawn at Christmas and just standing there and its snowing and the lawns getting lit up. In the summer people are playing frisbee on the lawn. And for football games you tailgate on the lawn. It's just this gorgeous tradition that has always been here and I love that.

The history behind streaking sort of legendary, we don't know when it began really. But the method that you are supposed to do is, you're supposed to start at the Rotunda and take off all you're clothes at the steps of the Rotunda and you're supposed to run down the lawn completely naked. Charlottesville is a great place. I love it. It's neat because there is a real balance between it is a college town and the university is very prominent here, but its not overwhelming in that there's a definite strong community and you can definitely be apart of it which is really cool. Streaking in the lawn is one of the many traditions. Actually its pretty cool. You're supposed to do it before your fourth year. I haven't done it yet, but we will see how that goes. We all dress up for football games, not everybody but a lot of people dress up for football games. We do a fourth year fifth. The last home game if you’re a fourth year you drink supposedly a fifth. I am two time streaker, don't go out as much as I used to. It's a really fun tradition at UVA, there are kind of disputes as to whether or not it’s illegal, but it’s just a lot of fun. A lot of kids going out on Friday, Saturday nights, Sunday nights, Tuesday nights, Wednesday nights, whatever night of the week. It kind of develops into a fun thing to do later on the evening. The streaking ritual goes that sometimes you have to streak across the lawn naked, which starts at the Rotunda, which is Thomas Jefferson's building, and you go to the other side of the Rotunda which is Cabell Hall, which is like our classroom building and it's quite a long distance.
