College Overview: Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt: Go 'Dores!
You need to come visit to fully understand why everyone loves Vanderbilt so much. Once you visit you won't even consider another school. I applied early decision without even considering other schools. Everyone here is very social but academic at the same time. Weekends start on Thursday and don't end until you're reliving what you did in Monday morning's 8am class.

Vanderbilt: Achieving Balance
There’s something very unique about Vanderbilt’s balance that it finds between you know work hard and play hard and that can involve alchahol on the weekends and doesn’t have to involve alchahol on the weekends cause you have a great city such as Nashville to – that was another big factor for me is being in a small city with a big city feel and when you’re on campus you’ll look around and you could be anywhere in the world. And then you have downtown Nashville all a mile away.

Vanderbilt: Smart Kids
When I first got here I thought it was gorgeous like I though its actually perfection as to what I expected out of a college living situation like it’s beautiful here – magnolia tree, which we only have in the North East, and everyone’s tanned and really nice and cute. That was nice. There probably a lot more preppy of a student body than I expected but you know I’ve been able to adjust to that.

Vanderbilt: The Vandy Bubble
It’s amazing living in the city because every band that ever comes here and we have a ticket master office right in Sarat so its really easy to get tickets on your Vandy card and that kind of thing, which is really nice and right here we have rights of Spring which is any old festival they hold the weekend before reading week, right before finals start and its 3 days of bands and food and just fun and all the undergraduates come out and its just kind of like a last Hurrah before finals and its r...

Vanderbilt: Beautiful Campus with Great Student Life
It’s a beautiful campus we have all kinds of trees, we have nice buildings. The students here are all very nice, everyone here seems to be very outgoing and part of it probably comes from the fact that we are in the South. I really like the way that it’s laid out, everything’s within walking distance of each other. You can get to all your friends dorms by walking. It’s really a nice campus – it’s easy to get a round - its beautiful and the people are really nice and outgoing.

Vanderbilt: “Work Hard, Play Hard”
I chose to come to Vanderbilt because it embodied everything I wanted in a college. It’s beautiful – somewhat of an Urban setting yet not overwhelming, a fantastic academic reputation and it’s just everything I wanted. It is more conservative than where I come from so I had to get used to that but it’s really not a big deal. If you have your own beliefs then people respect that.

Vanderbilt: The Social School
We have over 300 organizations on this campus – everything from are Hustler, which I our main newspaper that comes out 3 days a week to a lot of groups like community service groups for different things within Nashville and on campus. There’s a lot of club sports here I think we have 40 club sports – a lot of intramural teams which are all really popular. Vanderbilt: School Spirit and Nice Girls
Nashville’s just like a really cool city. I feel like a lot of people don’t recognize that. Like all my friends back home just assume its some tiny little town in the middle of nowhere but it’s like a really big, vibrant city and there’s a lot to do here and you wont get bored. I would say this is a very conservative campus, which kind of surprised me when I got here. Although I don’t think it really should have. Vanderbilt: Lots of Greeks
I’m from New Orleans and I didn’t want to go somewhere that was too far up north, because I’m impartial to the cold. But I really liked Vanderbilt because it seemed like a good balance between work and play and it was even a balance between a lot of people from different places. Like, I knew I wanted to go out of State, but Vanderbilt had more of like a geographic diversity that I wouldn’t have gotten at a State School elsewhere.
