Whitman: Small School, Small Town
Get to know Whitman students as best you can; visit campus and listen in on conversations, watch how professors and students interact in class, or if you can't visit you can try to get the feel of a student by talking to someone over the phone. Whitman: Visit!
Vist. Go to classes. Instead of just thinking it is in the middle of nowhere come see the college and talk to students. Preferably stay overnight. Those who enjoy shopping constantly or like to go into town at night shouldn't come here. Things happen on campus most nights but the town rolls up at around 8. Also, the only store in walking distance of campus (and that is as far as most people go) is a very small Macys.

Whitman: Isolated and Rigorous...
This is a wonderful school for students that can deal with an isolated location. The town is small and has a few restaurants and bars, but for the most part, everything happens on campus. I chose it because the atmosphere reminded me a lot of home, so I immediately felt good when I visited, and I find I have plenty to do, but someone that likes living in a city (or less than 4 hours away from one for that matter) should probably stay away from this school.
