Auburn University: A Southern Tradition
IntroductionI chose Auburn because of their excellent engineering program, and I, like most students here, have family history here. The biggest piece of advice I would give an incoming student is to buckle down and be serious about school. There is always something happening at Auburn, and it takes a serious student to buckle down during the week. Someone who is vulnerable to giving in to peer pressure should avoid Auburn.
Campus Life and Social LifeIf you are under 18 at Auburn, basically there is nothing to do except sit at people's houses/dorms/trailors/whatever. You have to be 19 to get into any of the clubs or bars here. Once you are of age, they are a blast. Fraternities often have massive parties too, but sorry guys...you have to know a brother to be allowed in. Girls...you are welcome anytime. The worst thing about Auburn's social life is that a lot of time the decision of what to do gets to you. It always seems like everything is happening at once or there is nothing to do at all.

AcademicsThe academics at Auburn are great. The Science and Math departments are TOUGH. Most professors outside of your MAJOR classes could care less, but ones that apply to your major are GREAT!
Student BodyIt is too hard to describe the typical student here. Auburn is a very diverse campus. A lot of people refer to it as a "rich kid's" school, but I disagree. Sure, there are a lot of wealthy students here, but a majority of the students have a family history here. Auburn is a typical Southern school. All the people are firendly and have that GREAT Southern hospitality.
In Closing...Auburn is an excellent school! I reccomend it to anybody! I love it here, and would not trade my experiences here for anything! WAR EAGLE!
