Barnard is Great!!

Rating: 4/5 (8 ratings)
Introduction
It's great! The size is just right to get the attention that you need from professors and advisors but it feels neither too small nor too big. You all the resources of Manhattan surrounding you as well as the entire University campus. Barnard students have (mostly) unrestricted access to Columbia so there is a wide range of activities, sports, libraries, hang-out spaces and so on available for you. Basically if you need or want something (anything) you can get it/do it/see it....you get the point.

Campus Life and Social Life
The best part of campus life is the really tight-knit community and the support systems that you build here. You will certainly find a group of friends that you will be close to forever. Everyone who works here is fabulous from the security guards to the servers in the dining hall to the professors. Plus, NYC has so much to offer that you can really make your experience anything you want it. You can travel, go to museums, shows, shopping, restaurants, etc. The worst part about campus life would also be the best: NYC location. Being in NYC people tend to go off campus a lot on the weekends or have off-campus internships, making it kind of quiet but not dead on Saturdays.

Academics
The academics here are great! The work is challenging and there is a lot of it but you will manage. I often find myself wanting to take so many classes that I couldn't possibly fit them all in my schedule. The professors and TA's are really great and they are always there to help, talk, etc. 100% of the classes are taught by profs but some larger ones have TA's which makes getting individual attention very easy.

Student Body
The student body is diverse in every sense of the term. There are many different nationalities, religions, ethnicities represented and students come from a wide range of financial situations. A wide range of styles and tastes with regard to music, clothing, etc are represented. There is really someone for everyone. Of course people take advantage of all NYC has to offer in terms of music, art, shopping, movies, etc so the social life is never dull. There are always those snobby girls at women's colleges; just stay away from them and you'll be fine!

In Closing...
GO TO BARNARD!!!
