If only I had known...

IntroductionIf you are thinking about Baylor, make sure that you fit into the Upscale White Baptisit mold that they have going on here. If you drive a Audi, love your frat brothers/soror sisters, believe in creationism, want to help "cure" gay people, and your idea of diversity is your "black friend", Baylor is the place for you!! Fill out an application ASAP. However, if you fall into the democrat liberal bracket and believe in welfare, gay/lesbian rights,and/or pro-choice, you should probably avoid Baylor like the plague. If you are looking for culture, be assured that there is none. If you are looking for diversity in thought or ethnicity and the freedom to explore both, don't come to Baylor.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe worst part of your social life will be that you are stuck in Waco, TX known pretty much for the cult massacre a couple of years back. There are about 3-4 bars, a club or two, and a minimal assortment of fine dining areas. The biggest thing was when they opened up a Pei-Wei in town. However, if you do happen to join a soror/frat, you'll have plenty of parties to attend and pay for when you realize you drank your weekend away. Sports are a pretty big thing at Baylor as is anywhere in Texas. Our teams are medicore at best but fans are super spirited and games are usually a good time. Students get in free!

AcademicsThe best part of Baylor has to be its academics. If not for it, be assure that I wouldn't be here. It is one of the top ranked schools in a variety of different departments. Professors are pretty smart people even though they all suffer from various forms of social awkwardness. The workload is hard but you get your money's worth in education which can't be said for all fine institutions of higer learning.
Student BodyStudent body consists of pretty good looking white people who are really into physical fitness and looking nice in Abercrombie. You'll find some asians, blacks, hispanics, and other foreign nationals in the Science Building and scattered arround other areas of campus. As mentioned before, diversity is not the best thing that happened to Baylor but apparently they're working on that.
In Closing...If you ignore everything else I've said, be sure to VISIT before attending. And when I mean visit, spend a long weekend here and stay with a student so you get a real clear picture of what living here will be like.
