The Whole Package
IntroductionIf you are looking for a school where you can get the whole college experience, Baylor is a great place. The school focuses on developing its students academically, socially, spiritually and physically. You'll get great school spirit, traditions, sporting events, great academics and lots of adventures are to be had in Waco. If you are interested in coming to a place where Christianity is embraced, nutured, but also challenged in a healthy way, Baylor is perfect for you. People who have no tolerance for religion, faith or traditional Baptist values probably wouldn't enjoy the school.
Campus Life and Social LifeBaylor has great student life. Whether it is activities in the residence halls, cultural activities, sporting events, concerts or social functions in the Greek system there is always something going on. Intramurals, Greek life, service organizations and student government are all really popular. People who want to party and drink can find plenty of places and groups to do that, but there is plenty of things to do for students who don't embrace that lifestyle - which is a lot. Waco taken on facevalue can seem a little boring, but if you look there is lots of fun and adventures to be had.

AcademicsBaylor has all-around great academics. Just about any major a student could be interested in, Baylor offers. It's great for students with multiple interests or those who begin college with no direction as to the major they want to pursue. Studying abroad is popular and Baylor has 73 different programs in countries across the world. The undergrad engineering program is ranked 21st in the nation. Baylor also has several living-learning communities on campus where students can live with people who have similar interests. Every student at Baylor has to take 2 religion classes to graduate, and most people find them really interesting. The integration of faith and learning in the classrooms is a hot topic right now. In my opinion, I've received an excellent education that has challenged me intellectually and strengthened me spiritually. Baylor challenges you to discover how you can use your education to serve others, both locally and around the world.
Student BodyIt would be easy to sketch a picture of a "typical" student - conservative, Christian and involved on campus. But this stereotype bothers me, because I feel just about every stereotype, political, intellectual and religious point of view is represented on campus. The beauty of diversity is emphasized in the residence halls and participation in multicultural groups is high. In general, students are very involved in campus and in the community. The student who was a leader in high school and involved in his or her school will do well at Baylor - socially and academically.
In Closing...Baylor is the perfect size - 12,000 undergrads, 2,000 grad students. You will always see people you know on campus, but it's big enough that you will always be meeting new people. You're not just a number at Baylor. Baylor is a family. It has great school spirit and pride, an active alumni league and is a place where students can build really fun memories. Also, the school is an hour and a half from Dallas and Austin, so lots of fun road trips and day trips are to be had. There are also a lot of lakes and parks in the area for outdoor activities.
