School is School
IntroductionWhen considering BU, make sure you don't mind walking at least a half hour to each class, that you want a city feel, can be patient with the MBTA (Boston public transportation), know what you want to major in, and most of all, don't mind a weak party scene. You won't be going to parties every weekend - big partiers should steer clear of BU because the party scene isn't so happening. Also, any student looking for an on-campus student community should not apply. BU is huge and it's hard to feel like you belong unless you're constantly involved in something.
Campus Life and Social LifeAs for the social life, like I said, BU parties are cramped, expensive, and dirty. The only way to party at BU and have a good time is if you're 21 or... have a Fake ID. But, be careful with Fake ID's especially non Mass. ID's. Boston is strict. I think the sports scene would be a lot better if we had a football and baseball team. It's pretty sad that the only thuroughly watched sport at BU is hockey.
Overall, weekends are dull unless you have connections to decent parties or like to watch hockey games.

AcademicsIf you can, do not apply or accept admission to the College of General studies. CGS is so frustrating and inhibiting if you know what you want to major in. For example, there is no way you can be a Premed major coming from cgs. CGS can set you back a few courses that would count towards your major's graduation requirements. Also, if you're going to take Psychology 101 take it through MET if possible. The workload can get intense at times, just make sure you know how to manage your time well and be willing to give up a weekend or two to do work. (Editor's Note: "MET" stands for Metropolitan College, a subsidiary of Boston University that primarily caters to adult learners. This reviewer might be hinting that sometimes BU undergraduates take classes at Metropolitan College because MET classes are known to have a lighter workload and less in-class hours, but still count towards graduation).
Student BodyHere's the deal on the students at BU: the girls are prissy and the guys are nerdy. It seems like the majority of students are well-off. The girls tend to dress to impress and the guys don't really care what they wear. Students are from all over the world. Many students are from the Massachusetts area or NY and New Jersey. Although BU is very diverse it is hard to tell.... (Editor's note: the school is renowned for having many different types of students, but also being extremely "cliquey").
In Closing...Think carefully before applying or deciding on BU. If you want to risk getting hit by cars and trolly's on your way to class, by all means come to BU. If you love hockey and no other sport, come to BU. If you don't mind a school over populated with girls, and and unwelcoming atmosphere - choose BU.
