An Academically Appealing Choice in Brandeis
Rating: 2.1/5 (45 ratings)
IntroductionBrandeis academics are of solid repute, which was my main concern when choosing a school.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe social scene is without doubt not one of the best, but it is getting better each year. It also takes getting to know the right group of people, those who have similar interests as you. I am an international student at Brandeis. The group of international students here is pretty large, yet small in the sense that we all know each other and have, more often than not, similar interests in terms of social life. International students oftentimes have their parties where everyone is invited, or they will go into Boston to go clubbing.

AcademicsI began as a psychology major and am now studying economics. The teachers in both departments are great...they are available to students after class and make the effort to get to know the them. Most classes are small, and students are able to know their professors better. Relationships between professors and students are typical and informal, but in a good way. The workload, however, is pretty large.
Student BodyBrandeis is a very liberal school and the students are quite active, taking part in clubs, groups, etc... While a large percentage of Brandeis is Jewish, the university is trying to have more diversity now (the majority of the freshmen this year is not Jewish). However, I think that students get along well, and although many of them are Jewish (about half), people mingle well despite religion, nationality or ethnical background.
In Closing...Brandeis (and any school for that matter) is what you decide to make of it.
