Brigham Young University
IntroductionBYU is a difficult university and is much different from the ease of high school. It has a much different atmosphere as well, it has a very peaceful and happy atmosphere that is different from any other place ive been. Do not come to BYU if you are not interested in being challenged academically and want to party. Academics and spirituality are the main goals of BYU and so coming here those should be your goals as well or this place really isnt for you.
Campus Life and Social LifeThe social scene of BYU, I'm not going to lie, is lame. There are parties on campus every so often that are fun to attend but, if you are not from Utah you will be quite suprised what a party is here. If you enjoy drinking, and wild parties that you'll find else where you can count on not finding anything like that here. At the same time, if youre trying to escape that scene or get away from that kind of stuff, BYU is perfect. There have been many very fun parties that dont include any of the aforementioned things. Also BYU sports are great!!! That would have to be the number one thing to do here at BYU. Football games in the fall fill the stadium of 70,000 and in the winter and spring the Marriot center will be packed on occasion at 20,000+.

AcademicsBYU like I said before is very demanding and challenging academically. At the same time however, it is very very rewarding and a degree from BYU in various different fields can be an automatic ticket into a great career. The professors at BYU are wonderful and I can honestly say that I have not had one, in 4 symesters, that I did not like or felt didn't care for the students. The workload is high but achievable and really pushes you. It is not however overbearing and you can handle what is required.
Student BodyThe typical BYU student is LDS (mormon) and typically older if they are male. (mormons go on church missions after their freshman year for two years) I, being a mormon even, would have to say that the typical BYU student is fairly wierd, however, the normal and great people do outweigh the bad. The students typically are from Utah, Colorado, Ariz, Idaho, and California with a lot from all the bordering states as well.
In Closing...BYU is a great University and I would highly recommend it to anyone, however, make sure you know what your getting into because BYU is also unlike any other University.
