Small classes; amazing Professors; even better Students

IntroductionBrown is whatever you make of it. If you want to do something, anything at all, there's a way to do it. However, you have to reach out and grab the opportunity yourself because it won't just be handed to you.
Brown is the laid-back, unpretentious Ivy. People are friendly and easy to relate to. What's more, there's virtually no competition between students, which leads to a friendly and collaborative learning environment.
Uptight, cutthroat people don't belong here. Go to Harvard instead.
Campus Life and Social LifeSocial life is open and easy. Everyone on campus is friendly and most people smile at complete strangers when they walk by. Parties are easy to come by: thanks to the lax nature of rules/restrictions, anything and everything can and does happen on campus. While people usually work during the week and only small dorm parties happen then, the weekend starts on Thursday. Then, with a multitude of student organizations, Brown's always a party, but only if you want it to be.
AcademicsThe shopping period lets you choose only classes that are both interesting subject and topic-wise. The Everything Cog-Sci & Medical is cutting edge. Philosophy is hit & miss.
Because of the open curriculum, it's possible to take mostly easy classes if you so choose, but most people go for the interesting material and amazing professors like Professor Morone. Also, many of our classes are small and professors are easily approachable. For example, in my first year, five of my classes were under 25 people. One of those was a first year seminar on Constitutional law taught by a former RI Supreme Court justice.
In short, classes are small; professors rock; the material is interesting.
Student BodyThere is no "typical" student here. Students are from all walks of life, but mostly they are liberal and from the Northeast. They're into everything. Coming here, there is something for everyone, and if you don't find exactly what you're looking for, it's easy enough to start it up.
In Closing...As a final anecdote: I was visiting a friend at Columbia the other week and he asked what Brown was like. I gave him the generic answer, "I love Brown."
His response? "Me too." A while later I asked, "So what do you think of Columbia?" "It's OK," he responded. Enough said.
