CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Rating: 3.1/5 (39 ratings)
Introduction
If you really love math and are REALLY good at it, this is the place for you! No, Calculus BC does NOT count as math by Caltech standards. On the other hand, if you like failing, you don't have to be good at Math to like it here. I chose this school because I ignored the school brochure...DON'T be like me!

Campus Life and Social Life
The weekends are great! You get to do homework TOGETHER with your friends! Parties? What's that? Oh right there are 7 of these things per year. That's right, per YEAR, not term! But you get to ask help from really smart people if you're crazy lost on homework, and homework "parties" are kind of social interactions...

Academics
The easy majors are not useful, the useful majors are not easy. Easy majors include: Literature, Biology. Useful majors include: EE*, CS, ChE*
* many people from these majors drop out into Chemistry eventually, so if you're considering these majors might as well just start out in Chemistry

Student Body
Typical student: from planet Earth, human, into anything except murder/suicide. That's right, Caltech actually has a LOWER suicide rate relative to normal schools...isn't that weird? I don't remember anyone here ever having committed suicide.

In Closing...
Stay away from professors who brandish red light-sabers. Yes, I am serious there are such professors. And don't dump mercury into the water, or no one will be able to eat fish anymore!
Oh yeah and Avery House has the best-looking RAs.
