I <3 Poly!

IntroductionCal Poly is simply amazing for me, but you have to appreciate a small town feel to everything. Classes themselves are all fairly small and the same sort of theme goes through the town. The number of people at the school isn't by any means low, but you'll find yourself running into people you know everytime you go downtown. Most of the town itself is college students which makes for a great time, but before coming here you should know whether or not that's what you want.
Campus Life and Social LifeSocial life at Poly is pretty much amazing in my opinion. Parties of every type can be found on weekends so you can decide whether you'd like to just hang with a couple friends or check out the "biggest frat party of the year". Sports aren't the biggest of deals at Cal Poly, but people certainly go. Football games are popular while in season and basketball is pretty big at times too. Going back to weekends, days are usually super relaxed, shopping downtown, sports on the rec fields or THE BEACH, and then most people go out at night. Since the beach is so close though it's definitely the place to be when it warms up.

AcademicsDefinitely known for it's Agriculture college, but the other colleges are equally great. I'm in the college of math and science which I find pretty challenging at time, but hey, that's what school's for. All the classes are kept fairly small to stick true to the cal poly ways, which is nice because it gives you the opportunity to get to know your professors well. Plus a lot of the professors really WANT to get to know you as well, you just have to make the effort to go to them for office hours sometimes. No classes are taught by TAs, but some labs are.
Student BodyA lot of the student body seems to kind of fit into the same mold, but if that's the kind of person you click with, then you just made a whole lot of new friends. Everyone is pretty laid back and there are a lot of beachy types as well. Looking around it's a pretty attractive group as a whole as well.
In Closing...Anyone considering Cal Poly should simply just come visit on a school day. After taking the general student led tour and seeing all the students around campus, you'll know pretty much instantly if this is the place for you.
