great college
IntroductionIf you're not sure what you want to do, go to a junior college and take your general education classes first. You can save money and transfer to CSUF and figure out what classes you'd like to take.
Some classes can be quite difficult (the upper division classes), so you'll have to make sacrifices with your friends in order to study and do well.
Start saving items that you've written or worked on because that's how you develop your portfolio.
I'd also do more than one internship to make yourself stick out more than other people. When you commit yourself to an internship, do whatever it takes and don't complain!
Campus Life and Social LifeI've been friends with some people for over 3 years now - I definitely feel you bond with people who'll become your lifelong, dear friends.
If you're a public relations major, join PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). It's a great club to meet fellow PR students as well as make some contacts. You'll also learn what life as a PR professional is like.
AcademicsI think the comm professors can be good. I've had some great professors[Miller (for advertising), Trotter (Comm 410) and others]. I highly suggest using ratemyprofessors.com to find out who you're getting. Or trust the upper classmen and ask them for some pointers! ;)
For marketing, Anicich is a great professor. He really cares for his students. Plus, his lectures are funny. His tests are hard, but he gives you a study guide.
Student BodyCSUF is a melting pot. There's a little bit of everything here. It's a very diverse campus.
I don't really know what a "typical" student is like since I'm one of the oldest ones amongst my friends.
In Closing...CSUF has a great comm program. Join PRSSA!
If you're shy like me, try and put yourself out there more often!
