CSUN Does Not Suck
IntroductionYou probably live in the area right? It's an affordable public school, and most departments will find you either internships or work while you are in school to build your resume. Just be awere that there are quite a few students of sub-par quality hanging about.
Campus Life and Social LifeThere are plenty of weekend parties if you like hanging out with the slow-witted Frat and Sorority types. If that's not your cup of tea, you may be better off just driving to Hollywood.

AcademicsThe Engineering & Computer Science school is good. Most departments are reachable via phone during business hours, which is much more than you can say for many other schools, like Cal State LA for example. Like every other school, there are both great and terrible professors. Go to one of the many popular professor rating sites and pick from it, and you'll be happy.
Student BodyYour average Matador is usually there because they are from the region, and want a quality education at an affordable price. Unfortunately, CSUN's acceptance standards are quite low (It is a Cal State afterall). In certain departments you are going to come across a number of students where you will ask yourself, "How is this person in college?" I knew one girl that had to repeat the University's lowest remedial math course three times!
In Closing...Keep in mind that Cal State schools have a much higher number of required General Education units over most private schools and the UC's. If you can afford it, and are accepted to a UC, you might as well go just for the sake of graduating sooner. Unfortunately, because of the fact that Cal State students on average attend for more than 8 semesters due to these extra units, it gives the perception that Cal State students are "stupid". This IS something you will have to deal with, which is why I suggest you gain work experience in your field before graduating (You'd be surprised how many UC students don't do this), and show the more expensively educated students how to start a career properly.
And of course, no matter which path you choose, GOOD LUCK! Work hard and you'll reap the rewards as I am.
