Carnegie Mellon- great academics, not so great social scene

Rating: 2/5 (2 ratings)
Introduction
Carnegie Mellon is an amazing school academically especially in computer science, business, and arts.

Campus Life and Social Life
Although the academics are top notch, dont expect the social scene to also be as good as the academics. Most of the time, you will be in dorm working on homework or studying for an exam and you rarely will have the time to party. If you choose Carnegie Mellon, I would not choose it if you are a party animal. Rather, choose it because you want a top-notch education and want a really excellent job or graduate school after you graduate.

Academics
Computer science, Engineereing, Drama, Arts, Business, and Architecture all are within the top 10 and 20.
Humanities and sciences here tend to be a bit weaker however but still are pretty good.

Student Body
the overall student body is very studious and hard-working and not very into partying. There is a general lack of school spirit as all the sports are division III. However, there are people here who still party nevertheless but just not very many people are like that. If you do not find parties at carnegie mellon, you always have upitt next door to hit up for some fun and partying. and if ur 21, theres a pretty decent bar scene in downtown pittsburgh.

In Closing...
expect this school to be very challenging and not very fun and if you are from a warmer state such as california or florida, expect the place to be very cold and lack sunlight.
