Avoid Cazenovia

Introduction
I chose to go to Cazenovia because I had no other choice. I was supposed to go to another private school for a year then head off to college, however, that didn't work. So I headed up to Cazenovia, NY, to this terrible school. I wouldn't recommend anyone go to this school, unless you live 20 minutes away from Cazenovia and couldn't get in anywhere else. Basically, the entire school is filled with backwoods, unattractive people from the central New York area. I'm pretty sure I was about five or so students from out of state. The typical student here is what most would refer to as a "redneck." If you are different in the slightest way you will be ostracized (and by different I don't mean dramatically so). I was from the next state over and that made me different enough.

Campus Life and Social Life
The social life in this campus is terrible. There is nothing to do except maybe drink in your room with a few friends and then go to sleep. There are a few dumpy bars on the one main strip in downtown Cazenovia - nothing worth your time as there are only a few regular drunks from the town combined with a handful of college students. The campus is about 30 minutes away from Syracuse so if you want to make the trip there is plenty to do in the city or at Syracuse University. Also, Colgate and Hamilton College aren't too far and have much better social scenes than Caz. However, I don't think you'll be welcomed at either Colgate or Hamilton coming from Cazenovia. All in all, the social life blows. Sports teams are terrible (save the equestrian team), clubs are nonexistent in the town, and partying consists of you, two friends, and a 24-pack of Keystone Light. Academics
On a high note, academics are poor at this school and making Dean's List was probably the easiest thing I've ever done (which helped me out when I transferred out of the school). All academics programs are pretty poor, yet easy to get high marks in if you put the slightest amount of effort. Still, I do remember numerous kids not coming back after the first semester due to grades, so it is probably fair to say the school isn't exactly recruiting the next Einstein.

Student Body
The student body isn't very diverse. Everyone is from central New York. There are mostly girls at the school and most of them are terribly ugly. So if you're a guy looking for a school with a three-girls-to-one-guy ratio, don't be fooled...unless you like girls who have a few teeth missing and wear overalls.

In Closing...
This is a terrible school. Call me a douchebag, call me a prick, but this school was by far the biggest waste of two semesters of my life. I transferred right out of this school as soon as my GPA was high enough to get me somewhere halfway decent. Ironically, a person I know that graduated cum laude - or some honor society - moved to the town where I go to school currently. He works as a cashier at WalMart or Target (one of those stores)...goes to show you how far a degree from this institution will get you. Please, please, please consider another school - no one should to have to go through even a semester at this place.
