CMU
IntroductionCMU is considered a "party" school to everyone in the state. But guess what? EVERY school is a party school! Yeah, it used to be a huge one many, many years ago, and yes, we students still know how to have a good time. But no matter where you go, students at every university across the country are going to party if they want to. So don't let this deter you from CMU.
CMU has a well-known teaching program and I think the business school is pretty good too. From personal experience though, my major is awesome! The integrative public relations program is considered the best in the state.
The students and teachers are friendly. I love this school!
Campus Life and Social LifeBest bar parties:
Tuesday = $1 pint nights at O'Kelly's
Wednesday = Everyone's at the Cabin for the best pizza, beer, and a great time!
Thursday = The Pub is where a lot of people go...but for those who are over skanky little minors stepping on your feet and spilling beer all over can find a good time at the Blackstone or one of the other downtown bars.
Friday & Saturday = You can find most people at O'Kelly's or at the Blackstone.
Sunday = Oldies night at the Wayside
Tailgating before home football games is an event that gets students fired up. Our football team isn't that great so, I'm sorry to say, most are passed out by the time the game starts...or on their way to OKelly's. There is a core group of students who are proud supporters of CMU basketball...they're called the Rose Rowdies. I can't tell you too much about the rest of the CMU sports teams.

AcademicsThe Media Design, Production, & Technology is minor is great! It's very hands on and I've learned SO much! Professors in the journalism department are very helpful. Central Michigan Life, had been voted the #1 student run newspaper in the state of Michigan, so that is definitely a great opportunity for high school students seeking a degree in journalism.
Student BodyThere are lots of pretty girls and a few good looking guys. Most students are friendly and helpful, but other than that I can't generalize these people. Many of the students seem to come from the east side of the state, the Detroit suburbs. I'm from Grand Rapids, the west side, so maybe it just seems like that.
In Closing...CMU provides so many opportunities to get involved within the campus and community. Student organizations bring entertainment and famous speakers to campus each year. Although the Mt. Pleasant community isn't that big and it's kind of boring, it's not too hard to find something fun to do with friends (and a great excuse to spend an entire day shopping in Lansing!). I love CMU!!!
