CMU ROCKS
IntroductionI give CMU a definite A in my book. I chose it because I got a scholarship and I wanted a school that was smaller than MSU and farther away from my hometown. I chose it over Western because it has more of a campusy feel and is closer to rural areas rather than a concrete block.
Campus Life and Social LifePlenty of parties, sports are free and fun, lots of clubs - weekends are a blast, either partying at the bars or downtown. Lot's of people complain there is not much to do in Mt P but there is if you know where to go. Midland and Lansing are not too far away as far as shopping - but there are bars, a race track (horses and dirt track for cars) movie theaters and bowling alleys and the SAC (athletic center) and seriously what else do you need in college? Plus the Res - so in turn you have Soaring Eagle - gambling and concerts.

AcademicsGreat Education and Physical Therapy programs. Biology, Geography and History Dept rocks - gotta love Dr. O Neil, Dr. Brea and Prof. Siers. History of Rock and Roll and History of Michigan, Geography of Michigan, any European History with O Neil, Environmental Geography with Siers, Sexual Assault Awareness and Preventence with Steve Thompson....awesome. I tested out of math but I did hear that lots of TA's taught it, often people with thick accents that were hard to understand. Workload not bad - like any other school, tests and papers seem to be around the same time in all your classes.
Student BodyLots of girls, more than guys about a 2:1 ratio. Pretty wide selection of students from Michigan - UP and LP. A lot from Pennsylvania and New York also - girls on the Field Hockey team. You have the typical frat and sorority people, the typical into all the residence hall and club stuff people, then the jocks, the loners... I mean come on it's your basic public university - CMU also usually has a handful of business and teaching students.
In Closing...Central is an awesome school! Enjoy it!
