Small, Friendly, Fun.
IntroductionColby is small, so make sure that you like an atmosphere where you basically know everyone. I like it that way, but if you want a big school in which you go out at night and know only five people, Colby isn't for you. If you like the friendly atmosphere where you know everyone, then it is good. Colby is also a great place to go for athletics. I think the percentage of kids here who participate is something like 33%. It is enough that a lot of people play a sport but not enough to be a big deal if you do not.
Campus Life and Social LifeSenior apartments are usually fun, as are off-campus parties...although it is declining. Colby is more of a party school although there are bars that people tend to go to on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sports are important and always entertaining, especially when we compete against our primary rival, Bowdoin. There are a couple of incredible Tradition days. Loudness, especially spring is a lot of fun as is the annual St. Patty's Day celebration of Doghead. The Bowdoin Football/Hockey games are also a must-see.

AcademicsYou can basically chose your own workload based on what degree of difficulty your classes are. Professors are pretty good. They rarely give you tedious work. If you structure your schedule the right way, which i have yet to do, you can avoid having classes on Fridays. It is nice because the TAs do not teach classes although they do grade problem sets.
Student BodyThe kids here are everything from polo-shirt types to hippies. Come and visit and see for yourself...
In Closing...That's about it. This place is definitely worth a look.
