Great Classes, Nice People, Needs Better Party Scene
IntroductionI chose the school because of its great english program, proximity to Boston, and gorgeous campus. Students are nice and well-rounded, but a little homogenous. I would not recommend this school for theater or art majors, as those programs are not hugely popular. Students who don't drink may not find the social scene very exciting at all, although Holy Cross does try to provide a lot of weekend activities. Also, be prepared for preppiness.
Campus Life and Social LifeSports and clubs are hugely popular. Worcester has great restaurants, and HC has a pretty convenient transportation system. On campus, people mostly attend dorm parties on weekends, which can get pretty dull. Furthermore, off-campus parties are even more awkward. There are, however, free movies three times a week, comedians on Fridays, and every Tuesday night a band performs. Local bars are popular, but not that great. There are no fraternities or sororities.

AcademicsBe prepared for a LARGE workload. Sundays are usually spent in hibernation at the library. You can't really get away with doing nothing, and professors will notice if you're not at class. Classes are pretty interesting though, and professors are very accessible and willing to help (by the way, there are no TAs). The english department is great. However, as HC is a liberal arts school, I feel it may not be so great for business or engineering.
Student BodyMost of the student body is from the northeast. There's a lot of preppiness, and most of the students are very smart and incredibly well-rounded. It's very rare to find someone who is not involved in any clubs. Intramural sports are huge. Students like to drink here as well.
In Closing...I've loved my four years here. I've met great people, learned a lot, and am sorry to leave! I would recommend an overnight visit to see if you like the classes and people. Also, HC no longer requires you to submit SAT scores, so admissions have gone up a lot.
